The Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelisation (Vatican City) announced that “for the deep desire of the Holy Father, the month of May will be dedicated to a prayer marathon…” praying the Rosary for an end to the Coronavirus Pandemic. The theme for this initiative is, “Prayer to God went up incessantly from the whole Church” (Acts 12:15). All the faithful are invited to get involved in a special way by praying the Rosary throughout May. We encourage families of this parish to choose a suitable time of the day when they can gather for the Rosary in the home. A large poster with the Rosary will be displayed in the foyer throughout the month where individuals and families can inscribe their names if they would like to participate in the initiative, dedicating a daily decade or a daily or weekly Rosary for this intention. “The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Spirit of God dwelling within us, alleluia!” (cf. Romans 5:5; 8:11)

PENTECOST celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is the “50th” Day of Easter and brings the Easter Season to a close.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray O God, who has taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation. Through Christ or Lord. Amen.

O Holy Spirit, Divine Spirit of light and love,

I consecrate to you my understanding, heart, and will,

my whole being for time and eternity. May my understanding be always submissive

to your heavenly inspirations, and to the teaching of the Catholic Church,

of which you are the infallible guide;

may my heart be ever inflamed with love of God and of my neighbour;

may my will be ever conformed to the divine will;

and may my whole life be a faithful imitation of the life

and virtues of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to whom with the Father and Thee

be honour and glory forever. Amen. GLOBAL ROSARY MARATHON: The month of May, in our Catholic Tradition, is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
