Sunday in Ordinary Time “I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the
treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty
has put in everything she had, her whole living.” MARK 12:43-44
Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to give money to support the mission
of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too small or insignificant!
Giving money to support the mission of our local parish is a matter of our faith, just
like praying and participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial offer-
ing, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left over”?
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION /
Prayers for Increased Vocations
The Diocese of Madison has initiated a program to increase call-
ings to religious life. The initial phase of that program is for each
parish to establish time for its members to pray for increased voca-
tions, while in the presence of the Holy Eucharist. Sacred Heart participates
by offering an hour of prayer and Eucharistic Adoration before the 5:15 p.m.
Mass on the 3rd
Saturday of every month, from 4:00 pm – 5:00 p.m. Please
come pray with us. Incense will be used.

DEACON TOM
"To convert somebody, go and take them by the hand
and guide them." — St. Thomas Aquinas
"To put into practice the teachings of our holy faith, it is
not enough to convince ourselves that they are true; we
must love them. Love united to faith makes us practice
our religion." — St. Alphonsus Liguori
"Even when God's will does not correspond to your
own desires, it is always beneficial for you."
— St. Arnold Janssen
A note from Deacon Tom:
Tom wanted you to know that the surgery went well and
he is continuing with his recovery time. He wants to say
thanks for the parish community and for all the prayers.
Did you know there are
many ways you can
support Sacred Heart?
Help Support Sacred Heart by
Making a Special Gift
Did you know that you can make a charitable gift that also
benefits you in a practical way? A Charitable Gift Annuity is a
donation you make to our parish, yet you will receive a pay-
ment for the rest of your life! Plus, you may receive a charita-
ble tax deduction and reduced capital gains taxes. Ultimately
your gift will support our parish, while supporting you during
your lifetime. For more information, contact your legal or fi-
nancial advisor or the parish office, for assistance.

MUSIC
ANDREA SORENSON
The Patron Saint of Music In honoring the saints this
month, we again look at the
life of St. Cecilia, the patron
saint of music. St Cecilia,
also spelled Cecily, has her
feast day on November 22nd
She was born a noble wom-
an in Rome in the 3rd century. As a child, she vowed
herself to God. She was forced into marriage but with
the help of an angel managed to remain a virgin and
convert both her husband and his brother. All three of
the them were martyred. Before she was burned to death,
she gave all of her possessions to the poor.
Next Choir Rehearsal:
Thursday, November 15th
7:15-8:45 p.m. NO CHOIR REHEARSAL

We are still looking for volunteers for in-
strumentalists and vocalists for the holiday
season Christmas Masses! Please share your
musical gift and talent with others by volun-
teering. Call the parish office or email music@sacred-

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
Our next meeting is at the store:
675 South Albert Ave on
November 13 @ 5:15 p.m. (New Time)
November 11-Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time:
In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us: “I want you to observe that
this poor widow contributed more than all the others who do-
nated to the treasury. They gave from their surplus wealth,
but she gave from her want, all that she had to live on.”
Ask yourself “Am I only giving from my surplus
wealth?” and then put your gift in the Society of St.
Vincent de Paul poor box so that those who are suffer-
ing will be able to know God’s love and care.
** This past month we helped 2 families with food, 14 gas
vouchers, 7 families with rent, 5 families with motel vouchers,
8 with utility bills, and 21 store vouchers for clothing, etc.

JUSTICE & PEACE
Veterans Day – Words from Others “It takes courage for a soldier to risk life and limb for his
country. The least we civilians can do is to honor these
heroes. That is the basis for Veterans’ Day celebration-
to venerate these great men and women with words of
appreciation.” Simran Khurana
“This country has not seen and probably will never
know the true level of sacrifice of our veterans. As a
civilian, I owe an unpayable debt to all our military.
Let’s all take a remembrance for all veterans who served
or are serving, peacetime or wartime and gone or still
with us.” -Thomas Smith.
“Serving my country was a life-changing experience for
me. It was during those years that I realize the im-
portance of commitment, dedication, honor, and disci-
pline. I have never laughed so much; nor have I prayed
so much. I made life-long friends. The leaders and he-
roes I served with helped shape me into the man I am
today. I feel honored to have been a part of such a great
tradition and grateful to others who have walked the
same path.” Steve Maraboli
“Damn the wars but bless the soldiers.” T.L. Moffitt
“Lord, bid war’s trumpet cease; Fold the earth in peace.”
Oliver Wendell Holmes
“If we don’t end war,war will end us. “H.G.Welles
“It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to
organize the peace.” Aristotle
“We pray that soon the sons and daughters, grandsons
and granddaughters will sit at a peace table to resolve
conflicts rather than to fight on a battle field.” A Justice
and Peace Member
Sacred Heart’s Mission Statement
Manifest God’s Love in Our World
Through Worship – Education – Evangelization –
Stewardship – Ministry – Fellowship – Forgiveness
National Vocation Awareness Through our prayers for an increase in vocations, may the
Lord grant us priests, deacons, and consecrated brothers
and sisters to help spread the Gospel throughout our dio-
cese, The United States, and the world. We encourage par-
ents to speak lovingly to their children about the joys and
rewards of serving Christ in His Church. If anyone has
questions on vocational discernment, please contact Rev.
Gregory Ihm, Director of Vocations, at 608-821-3095 or
vocations @ madisondiocese.org.
The Main Catholic Vocations A vocation is a call from God to pursue holiness in a spe-
cific way, involving a public and permanent commitment.
Marriage: Most people are called to marriage – a vowed
union of a man and woman who promise to love their
spouses and to joyfully welcome children.
Priesthood: Priests bring Jesus to people and people to
Jesus through preaching and the sacraments. They are or-
dained to devote their lives to serve the people of God.
Consecrated Life: Both men and women make vows of
poverty, chastity, and obedience when they join orders such
as the Franciscans, Benedictines, Dominicans, etc.
Reedsburg Area Helping Hands will be
helping families in need during the holidays by
providing each of those families with a special
meal. To help us with that endeavor, we invite
you to bring a frozen turkey (11 lbs. or more) to
the parking lot of Sacred Heart Church on the weekend of
Nov. 17-18 (4:30-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17; or
7:30 – 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 -10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Novem-
ber 18).
Someone will be on the driveway in front of the church
doors to load the turkeys into a vehicle. If you prefer not to
bring a turkey, Helping Hands is grateful for a check to
help support this effort. If you prefer to give a donation by
check, please make it out to Reedsburg Area Helping
Hands and mail it to 624 N. Willow St., Reedsburg, WI
53959. All donations are tax deductible. If you have any
questions, call Deacon Ron at 608- 524-4187.
Reedsburg Area Helping Hands has just
begun its annual Christmas Drive, which is an
effort to help the children of families in need
close to home. And, of course, it could not be
done without YOU. Mitten tags are posted on
the easel in the vestibule. If you would like to help a child
who may not be as fortunate as others, choose a mitten,
shop for the item requested, and return it to the box provid-
ed by Dec.1. We ask that you do not gift-wrap the item—simply attach the mitten tag and return it to our box.
Thank you for your generosity.
