Reflection

True humility - which is the opposite of false modesty or feeling bad about oneself - frees us to pursue what is good, right, holy, and true. Scripture tells us that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble

(Proverbs 3:34, James 4:6). Only the humble in heart can receive the wisdom which comes from God and the understanding of God's perfect goodness and plan for our lives. Do you acknowledge your utter dependence

on God and do you trust him with your whole heart, mind, and being?

The greatest reward for those who seek the "summum bonum" or "greatest good" is to be united with God - the one and only true source of peace, joy, and happiness that will last forever.

Community † Family News, During this difficult time it is important to keep each other in our prayers for continued good health or recovery. It is also important to stay in touch with each other. Even though person interaction may be limited; much goes on within our parish family. Write something up that is upbeat and informative.

Thank you and God Bless.

With permission from Fr. Collins, the faculty and staff of Sacred Heart Catholic School visited our pastor Fr. Tom Burke C.Ss.R. at the Saint Alphonsus Villa at noon on Wednesday, June 17th, drive-through style.

Thanks to Shannon for helping us take pictures and for helping us keep Fr. Tom “entertained outside!”

God bless you Fr. Tom and we love you. He did not expect this surprise but he loved and enjoyed it!

Great visit with Father Tom. Thanks to Shannon and Liliana, (hope this is how we spell her name!) from South Carolina for being great ‘partners in fun!’

Sacred Heart Church/ Ministry—News

MASSES HAVE RESUMED AT SACRED HEART Although Bishop Noonon has suspended Sunday Holy Mass obligation, he has now authorized the opening of Churches

for Mass. Worshippers following the Bishop's guidelines have

begun to attend Mass here at Sacred Heart.

Although masks were in place, it was wonderful to again see

familiar faces. Conversations were limited but people were

pleased to see the Church completed and the new pews in place.

When Masses first started, worshippers were escorted to socially

distanced seating by ushers. Some guidelines have now loosened.

Although masks are still recommended, worshippers can now

select their socially distanced seating and kneeling and standing as

part of the Mass are back to normal. Although social distancing for

distribution of Holy Communion as still in place, we hope to soon

have the Invitation to Communion back to its normal order.

Head counts continue to be at each Mass and although our mandated 25% capacity of 150

has not been reached, we are getting close to that number. We all look forward to the days

when things can start getting back to some degree of normal, but until then, we continue

to practice restrictions as set forth by Bishop Noonon. Ushers are doing their best to

follow these guidelines, including sanitizing pew areas after each mass.

This is a work in progress and as we work out some issues, we thank all of you for your

patience and understanding.

As God continues to bless our Parish, may we all remain safe and keep healthy.

A Pilgrimage of Love—Saint Joseph Discalced Carmelite Monastery in Bunnell, Florida is quite familiar to

many of our parishioners, many of whom had been there. On Thursday, June 24, four ladies set out on a mini pilgrimage to the monastery, prayed the rosary and read the Ten Commandments written in different languages. Patty Paige Geary, Esper Radosta, Maryann Murray, and Maria Bilodeau shared that “they had a

fun experience and a great sense of peace, reflection, and hope.” They visited the monastery not only for their own spiritual journey but also to pray for our country and for the healing of Father Tom. These four gals would like us to know that they prayed for us too.

Many hands make light work.

Volunteers at St. Vincent De Paul

have gathered and distributed food

and household necessities to folks in

the community who need a hand up

in these difficult times. The thank you received back

from the families was heartfelt and was greatly

appreciated by the volunteers. Their work is a prime

example of faith in action to our brothers and sisters

in the community.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is in urgent need of

assistance during this Covid-19 crisis. Many in our

community are struggling to survive and provide for

their families having been let go, laid off or furloughed

because of the virus. We are asking for donations of food

and money in order to help alleviate the burden borne by

the less fortunate in our community. Any contribution

would be greatly appreciated. You can contact the Society

through their main number, 426-0882 or the Sacred Heart

office at 428-6426. Thank you and may God bless you.
