Sacred Heart Confessional

Work has begun to renovate the confessional on the Blessed Mother side of the Church.

Thanks to your generous support of our annual Stewardship (block) Collection this was made possible.

The confessional will have a door for more privacy, be wider and more easily accessible.

The project will take a few more weeks to complete.

The Fourth Week Of Lent With this week, we begin the second part of Lent. We ask more and more deeply to be with and like Jesus. We desire to celebrate the approaching mystery of our salvation with greater freedom and greater joy. Each day's gospel will now be from the Gospel according to John. We can't avoid the feeling of being in a court room for a grand trial. There are "witnesses" and "testimony." It is a battle between the forces of Darkness and the Light. The opposition to Jesus mounts. It is inevitable that he will be killed. But, we know that the ultimate Judgment in the trial is against Sin and Death. We grow in gratitude and grace as we experience more deeply that this is all "for me."

Lenten Series 2019 Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Darby “Five Dimensions of Peace” You are invited to join us for 7:00-8:15pm in BVM Church. The program includes guest speakers, stations, shared prayer and benediction. Wednesday, April 3rd “Peace in our Relationships” by Fr. Joseph Meehan, Pastor Emeritus, St. Eugene Church, Primos PA Wednesday April 10th “Blessed are the peace Makers” by Msgr. Corley

There will be a free offering each night to support Operation Rice Bowl.

Fast and Abstinence The Bishops of the US prescribe, as minimal obligation, that all persons who are 14 years of age and older are bound to abstain from eating meat on all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday. Further, all persons 18 years of age and older, up to and including their 59th birthday, are bound to fast by limiting themselves to a single full meal on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday, while the other two meals on those days are to be light.

Lenten Patterns: Practicing Generosity Almsgiving has always been an important part of Lent. Generosity is not simply giving excess clothes to a place where poor people might purchase them. It's not even writ-ing a "generous" check at the time a collection is taken up for a cause that benefits the poor. These are wonderful practices. Generosity is an attitude. It is a sense that no matter how much we have, all that we have is a gift, and given to be shared. It means that sharing with others in need should be a personal priority. A spirit of self-less giv-ing means that one needs to share what they have with others. Lent is a wonderful time to practice self-less giving, because it takes practice. This kind of self-sacrificing gen-erosity is a religious experience. It joins us with Jesus, who gave himself completely, for us. Establishing new patterns of giving will give real life and joy to Lent.

Using the highly-acclaimed Augustine Institute programs Symbolon and Forgiven: The Transforming Power of Confession, A Lent to Remember explores the ways God reaches out to each of us with his mercy. Through Christ’s suffering on the cross in the Paschal Mystery and his perpetual reception of his people in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God makes his love, his very self, present to us in the world. By reflecting on the Paschal Mystery and making a step-by-step examination of the Rite of Confession, A Lent to Remember communicates God’s invitation to each one of us to come experience his indescribable love this Lent.
