NOVEMBER IS THE

TRADITIONAL MONTH

OF ALL SOULS, a time

when the Church reminds us

of all the “brothers and sis-

ters who are taking the same

path toward heaven,” some of whom are undergoing a purification

before their full communion with God. While the souls in Purgatory

can pray for us, they can no longer pray for themselves. The spiritu-

al works of prayer, almsgiving and sacrifice on their behalf are now

up to us. Here at Sacred Heart, one Mass is being offered each day

of the month for all those whose names are submitted to us on the

special All Souls envelopes included with your monthly envelope

packets. Extra envelopes are available at the entrances of the

church or in the parish office. During the month of November, we

will pray for our dearly departed loved ones.

St. Gertrude’s Prayer for Souls in Purgatory

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Di-

vine Son, Jesus,

in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,

for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,

for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church,

those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

ON MONDAY, November 11, the parish office is

closed. Masses will be celebrated at 7:15 AM (Carmel) and

10:00 AM (Sacred Heart). If an emergency situation

should arise and you need to contact a priest, simply dial the

parish number and follow the prompts to be connected with

the priest on duty.

MARY’S PANTRY THANKSGIVING DISTRIBUTION:

Mary’s Pantry volunteers are preparing for their largest distri-

bution of the year which will take place this Saturday, No-

vember 16, 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Last Thanksgiving we

served over 200 families. Donations of non-perishable food

items may be left in the Friendship Room. Monetary and/or

grocery card donations are also welcome and may be placed in

the collection basket, mailed in or dropped off at the parish

office. Many thanks to all those who continue to generously

support this much-needed ministry. God bless you for our

generosity.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Mass followed by Healing

Prayers this Wednesday, November 13 at 7:00PM. If you

or a loved one is in need of physical, psychological or spiritu-

al healing, you are welcome here. Confessions will begin at

6:30 PM and will continue throughout the Mass.

MEMORIAL MASS followed by a luncheon will be held on

Friday, November 15 at 12:00 Noon. We will remem-

ber the lives of our dead, especially those who have died

within the past two years. If you have had a family member

die within the last year, and would like them remembered,

please contact the parish office at 301-934-2261 with their

name. You are also invited to attend the luncheon immedi-

ately following the Mass in the Friendship Room. You still

have time to contact the parish office at 301-934-2261 or

email [email protected] by 10:00AM on

Tuesday, November 12.
