What Battery is?

A Battery is a device consisting of one or more electrode materials, which is used as a source of power to run electrical devices such as Mobile phones,

Flashlight etc.

Anode

Positive terminal is called CATHODE

Negative terminal is called ANODE

Negative terminal is the source of electrons that flows out and deliver energy/current/power to external

devices.

What happens when we hit a Battery?

Page 11: Safe Battery Handling

What happens when we hit a Battery?

When we hit a battery, an explosive gas mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is produced at a faster rate which builds-up pressure and heat in the battery at an excessive rate that can escape within the battery.

And.............. BOOM

Page 12: Safe Battery Handling

Why Explosion or Leakage is Dangerous?

Chemicals in the Batteries are corrosive or poisonous or both.

Like Lead, Mercury etc.

SAFETY CHECK POINTS

Do not stick or put any material on the desk of screw machine, make sure no screw or foreign material in the jig and track, need to clean the desk once every two hours and record in the tracking sheet of screw machine.

Need to hit 3 times gently on the desk with the battery housing downward, check the screw or other foreign material with the finger point on battery housing.

Need to close the jig cover when screw, must mark the sequence of the screw as the document and screw as it, when adjust or repair the screw machine, need to cover the battery with empty tray or cover.

When install the battery cover, need to wipe the battery and battery cover inside surface for one time, make sure no screw or other foreign material. The pending semi-device do not under the hand, avoid the foreign material fall off on the battery (if the battery is false battery can follow the corresponding document).

Page 15: Safe Battery Handling

Make sure no screw or other metal material on the dest at each station, must clean the desk before shift start, tea time and end of shift.

Must tranmit the device with the two-lattice tray, do not put the semi device under the desk at screw station or interfacing the screw station, need to put the buffer device into the special tray and cover with empty tray, do not stack the battery, must put into the special tray.

Need to confirm no screw or other foreign material in the tray or container.

All parts, metal, tweezers and other sharp or hard tool must put into the special box at battery regarding staions or battery exposed stations when them free, do not use metal tweezer at battery exposed stations.

Make sure no sharp and hard tool or material at battery installation station, battery cover installation station and battery storing area (include fresh or secondary battery).

There must be explosion-proof box and explosion-proof glove at battery installation station, need to train the operator how to use, make sure no foreign material in explosion-proof box.

Page 16: Safe Battery Handling

All the battery installation station or disassemble station must be changeless operator, before change the operator must give the special training to him and record in this sheet.

Make sure the distance between tray with semi device and screws box is larger than 8 cm to avoid screw fall into.

The operator do not keep long finger nail at battery regarding station (not longer than finger belly), need to use the flat single tweezer with clean cloth when clean the test point dirt, do not use the sharp tweezer.

Do not hit the battery on the desk when scan its' bar code.

Must install the battery as soon as its' vinyl is removed, do not keep the battery without vinyl on the desk or tray.

Need to inspect the battery appearance after disassemble it, do not continue to disassemble if battery liquid leakage, battery broken, battery blowup happen. Sharp plastic tweezers, sharp metal tweezers are forbidden at functional repair station, only flat plastic tweezers is allowed.
