o We require our personnel to have HazMat Awareness

• 14 years Transportation experienceo 11 years with the City of Pawnee and 3 years with the Pawnee Nation

Brief History• The Pawnee Nation currently has around 3,102

enrolled Tribal members. • The Pawnee Nation first began their

Transportation Program working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in 1995.

• In 2007, the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma Business Council made the decision to transition from BIA transportation department and work directly with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Road Safety Audit (RSA)

• Southern Plains Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) and the Pawnee Nation coordinated a Road Safety Audit (RSA) Training and Field Visit in Pawnee, Oklahoma as a first step in developing our Tribal Transportation Safety Plan.

• We had approximately 40 people attend including: Tribal Officials, Local Government Officials, County Commissioners, ODOT, BIA; State, Tribal & Local Police; Tribal and Local Fire &EMS; Local School Representative.

Safety Management Plan

• In 2013 we applied for Tribal Transportation Program Safety Funding (TTPSF) and received a grant to develop a safety management plan

• The Pawnee Nation Tribal Safety Workshop was held Feb. 26, 2014 and conducted with the aid of the Southern Plains Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP)

• We had approximately 25 people attend the workshop.
