• Sahpathi is a Support System for children who are facing a “learning deficit”

• It is a community-based learning support program

• Sahpathi is not a school

• It is not a tuition class• It is not an

organization

• Children in the age group of 3 – 12 years, who are not learning based on their age appropriate level

• Other Beneficiaries: All other children, the Community

All children are on the path of responsible and independent learning by the time they reach the age of 12

The Sahpathi ModelMain Role in Implementation:COMMUNITY FACILITATOR Provides supplementary learning support to

her group of 15-20 children Conducts assessments Tracks children on a daily basis if required Connects with the parents to inform them of

the progress of the children and the challenges faced

Organize community events and gatherings

Support Role in Implementation:SAHPATHI RESOURCE CENTRE (EDULEVER) Develop the processes and tools (curricula)

for Sahpathi Build capacity of the Community Facilitators Maintain all records and children’s data,

including children’s learning portfolios

Secondary Role in Implementation:BRIDGE MENTOR Helps the Community Facilitator

in doing her tasks Connects the children to

technology tools so that they are not left behind

Garners support for Sahpathi in the nearby communities

What’s happening at Sahpathi now?

• 100 children of Silokhra have been identified and enrolled in Sahpathi• Supplementary classes being run to bridge the deficit• Curriculum is being developed with support from Prof. Jalaluddin (NEEV Foundation)• Collaboration with a local community school to improve their teaching-learning process• Children being tracked on a daily basis to ensure school attendance• Learning assessments being conducted quarterly to track their progress• Wherever needed, children being enrolled in a formal school• Community events being organized and planned to spread awareness levels• A “Buddy System” is in place, in which a child from the other end of the socioeconomic

spectrum becomes a buddy with a Sahpathi child of a similar age.

Support needed

₹ 9000Direct funding support: Rs. 9000 per child per year (around 40% of the children supported so far)

Donations in kind: Books for children (preferably Hindi and Bengali books)

Used computers as we intend to introduce computer-based learning very soon

Volunteering support – Come spend time with the children!
