As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” John F. Kennedy The Boston Sock Exchange Ministry serves our

homeless brothers and sisters on Boston Common on the second Saturday of each month. Please remember the homeless who benefit from the seasonal clothing you no longer require. Please bring men’s and women’s

seasonally-appropriate clothing donations to the bin at the back of the church or to the Parish Center. We need men’s new socks, winter gloves, sizes L and XL, hooded sweatshirts, sizes L to 4XL, juice boxes, Gatorade, or any individual-sized non-carbonated drinks. We have enough water at this time. [email protected] to join the Parish Giving Tree Team this Advent. Children working with their parents are welcome as well as teens and adults.

Peace and Love are truly present in our School. Over the holiday weekend, November 11-13, members of the new initiative “Peace & Love”, redesigned the

faculty lounge on the second floor. Walls were painted, new furniture and appliances were donated, and the faculty restroom was redone! The cabinets and refrigerator were stocked with new kitchen supplies and Food! Teachers walked into the building on Monday morning, November 14, with this unbelievable surprise and were treated to breakfast! The faculty and staff are extremely grateful for all of the parents who donated their time, financial resources and efforts into this project. We are forever grateful for your generosity!

The Peace and Love Committee unveiled the Family Tree tapestry that is on display in the Saint Agnes School Hall. Each family decorated a heart for the leaves of the tree. The hearts represent the uniqueness that each family brings to Saint Agnes School. The beautifully appointed tapestry was the work of several parents and Mrs. Pondelli our KI teacher. We are fortunate to have parents with such talent and a willingness to share their gifts. Special thanks to Michelle Broadbent, Cait Ni Chleirigh, Lisa Hackley, Stacey Kennedy and Sue Porcaro. A moment of thanks—a lifetime of serviceWe are blessed to have more than 1,700 Sisters representing more than 65 religious communities who have served the Archdiocese of Boston. Rising median ages and escalating costs for health care have contributed to the great need to supplement Social Security benets that cover only 20% of actual medical and retirement costs for each Retired Sister.

The special collection on November 19–20 provides a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to these faith-lled women. The funds raised through this collection help meet day-to-day needs for Retired Sisters, such as prescription medications, nursing assistance, health care, and more.

For ways you can help, contact Sr. Marian Batho, CSJ, at 617-746-5637 or [email protected].

Thank you for your prayers and generous support.

“. . . to the religious women of the United States. What would the Church be without you? Women of strength, ghters, with that spirit of courage which puts you on the front lines in the proclamation of the Gospel. To you, religious women, sisters and mothers of this people, I wish to say ‘thank you’, a big thank you . . . and to tell you that I love you very much.”
