Daily Masses: Monday through Saturday at 9:00 am Private Prayer (beginning June 15!):

• Monday through Friday - after Mass until 10:30am

• Saturday - 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Confessions (beginning June 20!):

• Saturdays - 4:00 pm (in north vestibule or outdoors)

Sunday Masses: (beginning June 20/21!):

• Saturdays - 5:00 pm

• Sundays - 8:00 am, 10:30 am, 12:15 pm and 7:00 pm (Spanish)

Safety measures will be required in Church (Masks, sanitizer, social distancing).

We will continue to live stream our Masses and we are having permanent live streaming equipment installed.

I invite you to check out this video from the Archdiocese: “Welcome Back ” - " Bienvenidos de vuelta ," to let parishioners know what to expect as

they prepare to return to Mass.

And remember, all the faithful continue to be dispensed from the Sunday Mass obligation, as Cardinal Tobin instructs us: “If you are ill or at higher risk for illness, or if attending public Mass in the current climate brings you anxiety, please be at peace and remain at home.”

We do not have dates for the Sacraments of Initiation but we'll be providing you with information very soon!

Please click here to see the complete message with all the details I sent the other day!

We have all spent more than 40 days in the desert and we now we look forward to being together as we "come home" to our church!

Can’t wait to see you in Church once again!

God Bless you all!

Fr. Joe

Pope Francis’ Prayer to the Virgin Mary

for Protection and Hope

O, Mary You always shine on our path

as a sign of salvation and of hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,

who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain,

keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the People,

know what we need,

and we are sure you will provide

so that, as in Cana of Galilee,

we may return to joy and to feasting

after this time of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love,

to conform to the will of the Father

and to do as we are told by Jesus,

who has taken upon himself our sufferings

and carried our sorrows

to lead us, through the cross,

to the joy of the resurrection.

Amen.

Under your protection,

we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of who we are in trial,

but deliver us from every danger,

O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe

You

are in the Blessed Sacrament.

I love you above all things,

and I long for You in my soul.

Since I can not now receive You,

sacramentally,

come at least spiritually in my heart.

As though You have already come.

I embrace You and unite myself entirely to

You;

Never permit me to be separated from You.

THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

First Reading: Deuteronomy 8:2‑3, 14b‑16a Moses reminds the Israelites that when they were starving in the desert, the Lord fed them with “manna” ‑‑ a food not known to them. Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:16‑17 Paul points out to the Corinthians that through the sharing of the cup and the breaking of the bread, they are all one in Christ Jesus. Gospel: John 6:51‑58 After Jesus feeds the five thousand people with barley loaves and fishes, he tries to make them understand the significance and the meaning of what he has done. He tells them, in mysterious and beautiful words, that the bread he gives is his flesh and says, “I myself am the living bread... If anyone eats this bread, he shall live forever.”

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) June 14, 2020 “Moses said to the people, ‘Remember how for forty years now the Lord, your God, has directed all your journeying in the desert, so as to test you by affliction and find out whether or not it was your intention to keep his commandments… Do not forget the Lord, your God’…’Do this in memory of me.’” Memory is a special gift. It allows us to recall special moments, special occasions and events in family, with friends, at church. The celebration of Sacraments, especially Holy Communion when we meet the Lord for the first time in the Eucharist certainly stands out. On this Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, take time to remember that Jesus Christ is really present for us to feed, nourish and support us on our journey. With many others spend time in adoration of Jesus in the Sacrament of His Body and Blood. He is waiting for you. Sadly, when people stop practicing the faith or decide to worship elsewhere, I wonder if they understand that they lost the greatest gift they had, Jesus in the Eucharist. Pray for them and remind them what we have.

Page 6: SAINT ANDREW PARISH · 2020-06-14 · SAINT ANDREW PARISH 120 WASHINGTON AVENUE • WESTWOOD, NEW JERSEY 07675 June 14, 2020 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Phone 201-666-1100

Today is the Feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus in the

Blessed Sacrament. At the Last Supper, Jesus knew that

He was going to leave His friends. So He turned the

bread into His Body and the wine into His Blood- even

though they still look like bread and wine- and told the

Apostles to do the same. Jesus gave the Apostles, who

were the first priests the power to change bread and wine

into His Body and Blood in the Mass. Now at every

Mass, Jesus comes to us on the altar, Body and Blood.

Of course we cannot see any change happen when the

priest consecrates the bread and wine, but we know that

God can do things without us understanding them.

Sunday Readings

1st Reading Dt 8:2-3, 14b-16a

2nd Reading 2 Cor 10:16-17

Gospel John 6:51-58

Adult Question: Share one way that the Eucharist connects

us as “one body” – how does it change the way we relate to each other? Child’s Question: How does receiving Holy Communion

change how you treat those around you?

In order to prepare one’s body for receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, the communicant should not eat or drink for a) 1 hour b)2 hours c)10 minutes before Communion. Last week’s answers: The sacrament of Confirmation fills us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit just like the disciples experienced at Pentecost.

See next week’s bulletin for the answers.

Create a poster, sign or drawing to hang in your home to reflect the following:

The Eucharist is the center of our faith!

Consecration- to make holy or sacred

The most solemn moment of the Holy Mass

is the consecration. Up to that moment what

is on the altar is bread and wine. From the

moment the priest pronounces the words of

the consecration, “This is my body”, “This

is the cup of my blood” what is on the altar

is the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
