Sharing the Gospel- God smiles when you say kind words and do good
things for others. Say please and thank you. Share your favorite
candy bar. Open the door for someone. Sometimes you make mistakes.
You might spit out an unkind word. You might hit someone. When you
are in bed at night, tell God you are sorry. God will forgive you.
Jesus died on the cross so that you can sleep on a pillow of
forgiveness. Prayer- Lord, help me say good words to everyone I
meet. Mission for the Week– I will open doors for others and say,
"Have a happy day" with a smile.

“Be doers of the word and not hearers only…” JAMES 1:22
It’s easy to understand the definition of stewardship – living a
grateful and generous life. The hard part is doing it! How do your
actions reflect God’s word? Do you share your time in prayer with
God? Do you use your talent to help those in need? Are you generous
with your financial resources? If not, what are you waiting
for?

Please consider donating to the food pantry; it is an important
ministry to our community! Since we are currently feeding 80-90
families a week, we are in need of more items that are smaller in
size. This will enable us to create approximately 80 food bags for
our distribution.

PASTOR’S COLUMN
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Parish Pastoral Council As I’ve written previously, over the last
few months we have had a small group of parishioners generously
serving as an ad hoc or “provisional” advisory council, with the
goal of arriving very soon at a new, fully functioning “Parish
Pastoral Council”. This provisional group has been a blessing. They
proposed the survey which we’ve just done (results soon) and they
proposed a “Welcome Back” at all the Masses September 18-19 and a
Parish Picnic to start at 1:30pm after a bi- lingual 12:15pm Mass.
I certainly hope every parishioner will be a part of it all! But it
is also time to move forward on the formation of a new Parish
Pastoral Council. We have many tasks ahead – some spiritual and
liturgical, some educational and financial – but, in our national
culture that is extremely secular and relativist, our most urgent
task together is to pass on our faith in Jesus Christ to our
children and young people, and to help to kindle and deepen that
same faith in their parents, and indeed, in all of us. For this, we
will benefit from the establishment once again of a Parish Pastoral
Council that incorporates men and women of all ages, cultures and
experiences in our diverse parish. Although a Council was formed
some years ago, at this time we will benefit from having some
assistance from the Archdiocese which, in recent years, has
developed some current models and methodologies for Parish Pastoral
Councils which will help us to arrive at a structure that will
serve our needs. Sometime in September, we will schedule one or
more sessions here to work on this together. I invite you to give
serious thought and prayer to what you would like to see in our
parish going forward: What has been good and helpful over the
years? What is missing and needed in order to grow in faith and
then, as disciples, to grow as a Christian community and to reach
out and witness that faith to others? Concretely, I ask you to let
us know (by mail, phone, or preferably by email at
[email protected]: 1) if you would be open to attending one
or more informational-organizational sessions; 2) if you are open
to considering serving on an eventual Parish Pastoral Council; and
3) to please propose names of people you believe would make good
members of such a Council ... and please don't be shy about
offering your own name if you'd be open to serving! In this way, I
hope to have a broad and varied pool of interested people. Please
know, this is not yet a commitment to serve, but only to be part of
the process to arrive at a great Parish Pastoral Council! Please
pray for that outcome! And let us pray for one another as we move
through this process! God bless you all,
Fr. Joe
