Festival of Trees This year St. Anna Parish and St. Anna School are

will take place Monday, November 23 through Monday, December

21, 2020 in the Tata Auditorium at Leominster City Hall. Public

viewing, bidding and voting hours will be weekdays 9:00 am - 4:00

pm* and weekends 11:00 am - 3:00 pm* (*except when noted

decorations. Local businesses and organizations have

decorated and donated Christmas trees to be voted and bid on

through Monday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the

Festival of Trees go to fund City of Leominster events, such

as the the Mayor’s Fuel Assistance Program, which provides

up to $300 per year to Leominster residents who need help

paying their heating bill. All families are welcome to attend. The

event is indoors and stroller friendly!

    First Sunday of Advent

    First Reading: Isaiah 63:16-17, 19

    Psalms 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19

    Second Reading: First Corinthians 1:3-9

    Gospel: Mark 13:33-37

Today we begin a beautiful season, the season of Advent.

I invite you to give a look at the meaning of something that

we see every year during this season, but often times we do

not stop to think about it.

    The Advent wreath

Four candles, two different colors, four Sundays that will

help us to walk through this journey of faith towards the

manger, towards Jesus who comes to us as a baby,

so humble, so fragile to give us gladness and peace.

    The first candle means Hope

    The second candle means Love

    The Third candle means Joy

    The fourth candle means Peace

So, let us stop and think about today’s word – Hope.

Hope because now we fix our eyes on Jesus and we pray to

him with deep faith and we open our hearts to his coming.

We make wishes, we desire something for this Christmas.

The kids write letters, we make special prayers for our-

selves, our families and our friends.

There is a feeling of waiting, of something great coming to

us. The feeling of joy and good news, of sharing and giving

    to others.

"Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time

    will come.”

What do we hope for? What do we want or need from

Jesus? As we begin this journey, what do we hope for

us, our families, our friends, for our country and the

    world?

Let us start preparing ourselves to receive from Jesus, let us

make ready our hearts for the beauty, and the gladness

Christmas brings to us. Let us make this prayer today,

prayer of hope, prayer of expectation in the one who comes

to give us peace and love.

    Let us pray,

“O come, o come Emmanuel! Rejoice, Rejoice! Em-

manuel, shall come to you O Israel.”
