St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church

Dear Friends, It rains here. Last weekend the long-awaited hurricane effect rains didn’t come. Then they did come on Monday and Tuesday. As I write this I hope that it won’t rain on our Ministry Fair. If it does, please umbrella on over to the school where the various and worthy groups and ways to serve will be on display. At Ministry Fairs there are always a good number of enthusiastic people hoping to share their joy. The parishioners able to be involved in some form of outreach or apostolate or prayer group tend to be glad about it. They want you to know about it and they hope that you will join in the fun. Please give a look and a listen. Especially, try to see if in fact the Lord Himself is calling you to take a new step in the adventure of life as a Believer. Jesus today teaches that the greatest among us will be the ones who serve. Jesus is always offering us a road that is different from the one we ordinarily choose. In your life what does it look like to serve others? It is very likely that we all serve others in some way. Parents serve. Teachers serve. Young people learn to serve. Take a moment to ask someone who is active in an apostolate if he or she has grown because of it. See if they can explain the reason they participate. See if it is convincing enough for you yourself to try. This Sunday I want to introduce you to someone who serves here at the parish. Mr. James Armstrong III has been here for over a month but he is still our brand new Director of Youth Ministry. I am pleased by how quickly he has jumped in and worked at meeting many of you. It has been years since we had a full-time Youth Minister here at St. Anthony’s. Please stay alert for the new initiatives he will try for our young people. Young people have an abundance of gifts to share with our parish family. How much I hope that we can find the ways to engage them for the good of the Church and for their own good. We notice that Jesus also teaches that welcoming them is welcoming God. Grace is a reality that keeps us young. Stay young, my friends. With my prayers, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler Pastor

From Our Pastor, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler

STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship of Time and Talent

“If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” (MARK 9:35)

Jesus teaches us that we are called to serve one another. Sacrifice is not a word that many people like to hear. We think it means that we must give up something that we want. However, the literal meaning of sacrifice is “to make holy,” from the words “sacer” = sacred and “facere” = to make. In other words, we make our lives holy by

sharing our gifts in the service of God.

Dear St. Anthony Family, Our new theme for this school year is Hearts for Jesus. One of the great treasures of our school year is the regular School Mass. Every week brings the joy of worship and the joining together of the community of Saint Anthony of Padua- Church and School.

Bringing the Gospel message to life for our students is our responsibility; in this celebration the Holy Spirit joins us all together in the launching of them on a path to a life of discipleship. “so that they may all be one” Jn 17:21 I promise the joy on the faces of our littlest ones will inspire your faith, and your presence will bring them to greater faith knowing that they are not alone on their faith journey, no matter what they might face. Please come join us, every Friday (school day) Morning at 8:30 AM, whenever you can, you will be welcomed as Hearts for Jesus. Yours in Christ, Nora Buçaj Principal
