Todays readings outline how the disciple is present in the world. The outline begins with Isaiah: Share your bread . . . shelter the oppressed . . . clothe the naked(Isaiah 58:7). Those who hear the word of salvaon are not insensive to the urgent needs of others. Then Paul reminds his flock that he brought Christ to them not in eloquence or wisdom, but by being with them in the weakness and fearof their daily lives (1 Corinthians 2:3). Finally, Jesus tells his disciples to go out into the gloom and darkness of the streets of the world and let Gods light shine through their good deeds. We disciples dont save the world. GOD’S CALL

The person who has been “saved,” who has “heard the good news of salvation,” still lives in an unsaved world, a world sadly oblivious to the presence of God. Today’s readings outline how the disciple is present in the world. The outline begins with Isaiah: “Share your bread . . . shelter the oppressed . . . clothe the naked” (Isaiah 58:7). Those who hear the word of salvation are not insensitive to the urgent needs of others. Then Paul reminds his flock that he brought Christ to them not in eloquence or wisdom, but by being with them in the “weakness and fear” of their daily lives (1 Corinthians 2:3). Finally, Jesus tells his disciples to go out into the gloom and darkness of the streets of the world and let God’s light shine through their good deeds. We disciples don’t save the world. To the extent, however, that we have heard the word of God and been awakened to God’s presence, we may spread that word and bring that presence to others. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

St. Benedict School News…

There are 100 ways of having fun while learning at Saint Benedict Catholic School. Some of those took place on the 100th day of school. Preschoolers sang about 100 days of school. Kindergarteners danced while counting to 100. First grade students found out how much 2 dimensional space was filled with 100 pieces of various types of edible food. And Second graders compared the volume of 100 objects in a jar. Next week, Catholic Schools Week, students will continue a different kind of fun by celebrating all those who make a Catholic School education possible such as their parents, teachers, pastors, and parish communities.

Volunteers Wanted!!!!!!

If you would like to be an usher,

lector, or altar server, for any Mass, we

would welcome you with open arms. Please contact Paulette

at 251-986-8142 to get further information.
