Dear Parish Family, A couple of our own passed from this world recently. Most of you know about David Bitto’s battle with cancer ending and his funeral Mass and burial a couple of weeks ago. Our prayers are with his family. And last week, a former parishioner, Mary Ann “Donne” O’Donnell passed away and her funeral Mass will be here at St. Bartholomew Parish this Monday at 9:00 AM, followed by her interment at Prince of Peace Cemetery. May God console their families and friends in their time of loss and may their souls and all of the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace. A crew from the National Evangelization Teams (NET) is coming to Foley this week. St. Bartholomew is one of the sponsoring parishes of the event. Our NET team has 12 young people (ages 18-24) who will help stimulate, encourage and enliven the faith of our Middle School and High School youth this Thursday (March 26th) at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish Hall. Many area councils of the Knights of Columbus are generously providing the meal for NET and our youth! It will a fun evening for all involved. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Philip Wiese ([email protected] or 251-968-7062). May our Lenten disciplines and practices prepare our hearts and minds for the celebration of the central mysteries of our faith during the Paschal Triduum!
In Christ, Father James Dean

St. Benedict School News….
As spring flowers are bursting forth in new life, students at SBCS are expressing their growing skills in many ways. PK3 students have planted their own grasses to see how life can grow from seeds. Fourth graders have been doing in depth research about Civil Rights issues. Art students have been painting in water colors and drawing pictures to scale while learning lots of new Spanish vocabulary through books, songs, dances, and games. All students in grades two through seven have been participating in national standardized tests to measure their accumulated knowledge. No matter how this new knowledge is expressed, it is all a reflection of our motto: “Ora et Labora” - Pray and work, to love God and others through academic excellence.
