My Dear Parishioners,
Once again, I congratulate you for your warmth and sense of hospitality, as we hosted the Second Annual Padre Pio Festival. Like last year, we were joined by hundreds of visitors from throughout the tri-state area. I received many compliments about the
beauty of our church, the warmth of our parishioners and the attention to detail on the part of our commit-tee. So many volunteers joined our Knights of Columbus in contributing their time and talent as greeters, park-ing lot attendants, booth operators, safety personnel, setup and tear down volunteers, etc. While there are so many to thank for making the festival so successful, I do want to thank Brian Stedman, our festival chair, for his tireless efforts. It certainly appears that our change of venue, that is putting the festival on the front lawn, was very success-ful. It made it feel like an old fashioned block party. I was very happy that we added a special teen and young adult night to the festival. Those who came heard a very good talk about Padre Pio, while praying before the Blessed Sacrament under the tent. We know our youth event will be bigger and better next year! How unique and special it was that Holland Road was shut down to give us an unobstructed processional route, as we took our Catholic faith out into the streets. For me personally, the most touching moment was seeing so many people coming up with all kinds of infirmities, seeking Padre Pio's intercession for them-selves or someone for whom they prayed. Perhaps the most fruitful part of the festival was the many people who came to confession, some after an absence of many years. Already I know that members of our festival com-mittee are beginning to share ideas about how to make the Third Annual Festival even bigger and better! But first, we have a Patriotic Concert to host Monday night, with the Verdi Band. I went to band rehearsal last Tuesday night, and I can assure you it will be a great show! This year, because our gym was recently air conditioned, we will have the concert, in the event of rain, right here on our own campus. So come and join in celebrating the birth of our great country! May God Bless You,

Scripture Readings Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 9, 2017 Zechariah 9: 9-10 Psalm 145 Romans 8: 9, 11-13 Matthew 11: 25-30 We will hear Gospels from Saint Matthew for most of the rest of this year. You may recall that Matthew wrote for a mixed population of Jews and Gentiles, possibly in Antioch, and in his Gospel Jesus often speaks of God’s care for “the least” and “the little ones.” We resume his Gospel narrative in the midst of the chapters that address the opposition to Jesus from Israel. In the above reading, Jesus is publicly es-tablishing His relationship with the Father and encouraging all who are burdened to come to Him. Let us lay down our burdens and listen to His message.

Dear Parishioners,
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Blessed Virgin Mary appearing to three little shepherds in the small town of Fatima, Portugal. Wouldn't it be a good idea to learn a little more about our Blessed Mother during the lazy days of Summer? We are offering an Adult Religious Educa-tion Series: QUEEN OF HEAVEN - Mary's Battle for You! begin-ning Tuesday, July 11 through August 29 (only 8 weeks). You have a morning (9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.) and evening (7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) choice and these time periods are interchangeable at your con-venience. Embark on a journey that begins before time itself, when Mary was only an eternal thought in the mind of God, and extends into her life in Scripture. Discover our Mother throughout the centuries, as she inter-venes at pivotal periods - especially at her most famous apparitions, when she made roses bloom on a hillside at Guadalupe, when she made a miraculous spring of water rise from the ground in Lourdes, and when she made the sun dance at Fatima. See how she - the Woman who said "Yes" - never tires of battling for us against the angel who said "No." See the maternal care Mary has given to hu-manity, and learn how to grow closer to our Mother. Take a journey now and discover like never before the woman who, from the very beginning, as destined to be the Queen of Heaven. The course fee is $40.00 including a study guide and refreshments. A registration form is included in this bulletin as well as St. Bede's Office of Religious Education website. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to call (215) 357-2130. Let us keep each other in prayer. God Bless, Carole Obrokta Director of Religious Education 215-357-5720

Scenes From the SecoOnce again, a fantastic crowd came for our weekend event of prayer and celebration of. Padre Pio. From thecalendar—the Third Annual Festival will take place on June 22, 23 and 24, 2018! (Photos by Gary Gehringer, Pat McNally, Barb Rogowski)
Parishioners carried the Padre Pio Statue through the surrounding neighborhood, with an even larger group of pilgrims and priests following. Once again leading the way was the Verdi Band of Norristown.
Visitors and parishioners enjoyed a variety of treats from the many food trucks at the festival, with everything from barbeque and pizza to water ice and ice cream available.
Our principal celebrant for this year’s Festival, Father Thomas Betz, OFM, Cap.
Our own Deacon Kyle Adamczyk and Deacon Quy Marched in the procession, carrying the sacred relics of St. Padre Pio. The relic held by Deacon Kyle was given to Monsignor Marine in Italy, and will remain at St. Bede’s. The second relic was returned to the Carmelite Monastery in Philadelphia.

Hundreds of Pilgrims were blessed with the relics of St. Padre Pio, during Sunday’s Healing Service.
The Youth/Young Adult Worship Service Friday night was accompanied by the Our Lady of Guadalupe Praise & Worship Group.
Arts, crafts movies and more kept kids happy and involved at the Padre Pio Pavilion.
Many families brought blankets and took advantage of the beautiful weather.
People had fun visiting our craft vendors, and listening to singers Stephen Ritrovato and Jessica DiDonato in the entertainment tent.
The cafeteria was the place to go for fresh baked goods and coffee drinks, at the Pio Café.
