foundation of musically expressive composition, and

the basis of all Western Folk, Pop, and Dramatic Music

since the 16th century. Taught by Dr. John Suess,

FAMILY PROMISE OF SARASOTA Looking for something that will make a real and lasting difference

and takes only a few hours a few times a year? Join the 100+ fellow parishioners who already volunteer for the

Family Promise program! This highly successful, national community-based program works with local

congregations to get families back on their feet quickly after a crisis has left them homeless. For a week at a time

congregations in the Family Promise network host up to three families and provide meals, overnight shelter and

fellowship – right on their own grounds! Our next host week is January 11 – 18. We need help with meals

(especially providing lunch materials), laundry for bed/bath linens, overnight “hosting” (private, cozy quarters

across the courtyard from our guest families provided!), driving, and set up/tear down. For more info, contact

parishioners Ray or Lea Droege at 941- 346-7809.

FISH FRY FRIDAYS are BACK! Join us

Fridays, January 16 & 30 for a delicious fish dinner that includes fried Tilapia, macaroni & cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, dessert and a drink - and all for only $10! Meals are available for dine-in or take-out in the Boniface Community Center 5 - 8 p.m.

And MORE!

YOUTH NEWS

It is a new year and we have a TON of super exciting things

planned for our awesome St Boniface Youth Group. We are

continuing our C.A.N.S. theme, where each Sunday night we

take time to focus on either Community, Adoration, Nurture, or

Service. We have some great opportunities to serve, including

the return of the 30 Hour Famine, participation in the C.R.O.P.

Hunger Walk, and the summer mission trip. We've got some fun

stuff planned like beach games, movie outings, and

geocaching. Most importantly, as we do all of these things, we

keep God at the center, loving as he loved us, and living in

community together to glorify Him!

If you know a student in grades 6-12, we would love to have

them be a part of this community. Youth Group happens

Sunday nights from 5:30-7:30. If you have any questions about

the Youth Group, please contact Alex Everson 941-349-5616 X

311 or [email protected].

SPECIAL GIVING IN JANUARY Giving Here ... We begin the year’s cycle of special giving with an Initial Offering, turning to the Biblical principle of first fruits giving. We invite you to make God’s work in the world your first gift of the new year. Your generosity readies our parish for ministry and worship, and intentionally connects you to His work. Your gift may be a tribute or memorial gift.

Giving There ... Half of what you give toward our January Special Giving will go to the Society for the Increase of the Ministry. This independent group supports the future of the Episcopal Church by providing scholarship aid to seminary students pursuing ordination. Their work ensures that financial concerns do not stand in the way of raising up our Church’s next leaders.

Learning More... Visit http://simministry.org. Chat with parishioner and Society of the Increase of the Ministry board member, Judy Radasch. Coffee Hour, 10:15 – 11:00, Sunday, January 25.

SUNDAY BOOK DISCUSSION

Are you looking for a way to deepen your understanding of Jesus and revitalize your faith? Come join a book discussion of Cynthia B o u r g e a u l t ' s T h e W i s d o m Jesus. The Rev. Bourgeault, a brilliant Episcopal priest, explores how “the wisdom tradition”--a lesser known mystical perspective--- impacted Jesus, his life and his

teaching. This Sunday book discussion will start on February 1 at 10:15 a.m. in the St. Francis Room, and last for six to eight weeks. Sign up for the class (at the Welcome Table or at Coffee Hour), buy the book, and come join us!!! The discussions will build on each other and be facilitated by parishioner, Marion Larsen. Marion attended three years of Chicago Divinity school, taught adult classes in an Episcopal church in TN., and is the widow of an Episcopal priest and Jungian psychotherapist. Feel free to contact her at (941)355-0333 for more information.

GREETINGS FROM YOUR SR. WARDEN

By the time you receive this note, Advent and Christmas have passed and a

new year has begun. What a blessed season it was, with great food at the

pot luck, wonderful music at the services, and wonderful worship and bible

study done by our clergy. We are truly fortunate to have all these blessings

that St. Boniface Church affords.

I’m excited about our future next year, especially the monthly parish

meetings that Fr. John has scheduled for us. We will have an opportunity to

create our vision and mission as we bring Christ’s ministry into our

community and beyond.

I know we must make some changes that will help us achieve a balanced

budget and put us on the responsible road to a balanced budget. This will be

a difficult time of adjustment, and we pray for God’s guidance during this

process.

Thank you for being a loving congregation, and making this a wonderful

home and worship place for all. Happy New Year! Doug Francis

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY JANUARY 14!

THANK YOU, KAREN DAKAN!

Hearty thanks to Karen for over two

worship space! Thank you, Karen, for lifting our hearts with beauty and

creativity - many blessings as you step out of this life-giving ministry!
