Built on these roots, and in order to see the world as God sees it, we commit ourselves to: being a welcoming sanctuary and a place of prayer and worship, nurturing, assisting, encouraging and serving all those in need, offering all generations opportunities for personal and communal growth, and, by these commitments, to honor our call to evangelization.

Meditation—Matthew 7:7-12 Ask . . . Seek . . . Knock

There are a lot of less than ideal things we do just to save time. Fast-food restaurants,

speed-reading courses, speed dating. Clearly there are some things you shouldn’t hurry!

That’s also true in the spiritual realm. Sometimes we want something so badly that we

try to take shortcuts. Maybe we set out to find peace or fulfillment on our own, when

we might do better to listen for what God has to say. Later we realize that if we had

taken time out to ask, seek, and knock, we would have found something far deeper,

something that doesn’t ebb and flow with our circumstances. If you want to see good

and lasting results, you need to exercise your faith and trust. And sometimes, that

means waiting patiently for the Lord to act. God will take care of you! He will answer

you in the way that is best for you—and at the time that is most helpful to you.

What do you need the Lord to help you with? Go ahead and ask Him for it. Tell Him

that you are willing to wait for His wisdom and His timing. As you do, you will find

Him eager to fulfill your needs and to further the plan he has for you in just the way

He has intended. He really does want to bless you! “Lord, open my eyes to your wisdom

and generosity. Thank you for being not just a provider but a Father who wants the

very best for me and for those I love.”

Serve Him

How can you SERVE . . .

Do you want to join a liturgical ministry but don’t know where to start?

The following are ministries in need of volunteers.

Altar Server - Our Altar Server Ministry is open to all parish boys and girls in the 4th grade and up who have made their First Communion. This ministry offers young people the chance to actively participate in one of the Church’s most important ministries; assisting the priest at the altar.

Usher - Ushers provide hospitality, comfort and safety at weekend Masses and other liturgies (including Holy Days of Obligation). Before Mass, ushers foster a sense of community by welcoming members of our parish and visitors as well as assisting with seating before and during Mass. Ushers are responsible for taking up the collection and distributing the weekly bulletin. Come celebrate Mass with your family, serve our commu-nity and be an example of Christ’s love and witness to our community.

Altar Angel - Altar Angels is a small group of volunteers that launder the purificators used during communion. This ministry is a quiet way to serve the parish in your home at your convenience.

Lector - Lectors bring the Scriptures to life during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. Involvement in this ministry helps members of our community grow in their own appreciation for and understanding of Scripture. By proclaiming God’s word, ministers help the Holy Spirit speak to the hearts of those at Mass.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion - Extraordinary Ministers exercise the role of host and serv-ant at the Eucharistic banquet. They distribute communion under both species (the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ) at Mass.

Extraordinary Ministers to the Sick & Homebound - Some of our parishioners are unable to attend Mass. Often times these people have worshiped within our community for many years and are now unable to physically attend Mass due to age or illness. These parishioners are in assisted living facilities or live at home and are grateful to receive communion from our Ministers.

Please contact Susan Daley at 949-494-9701, ext. 118 or email [email protected] to get

started.
