ENSEÑANZAS FAMILIARES
Los maestros espirituales suelen repe r sus en-señanzas, y repe r las de otros maestros. Quizás no existen muchas verdades diferentes que decir. Sólo mu-chos seres humanos lentos y aletargados, como noso-tros, que necesitan oír lo básico una y otra vez. Conside-ra, por ejemplo las lecturas de hoy. La gente se queja de que Dios no es “justo” y Ezequiel responde que Dios es más que justo. Las perso-nas eligen su propio des no, y las personas pueden cambiar. Hasta los malhechores pueden cambiar de rumbo, hacer lo que es justo, y vivir. “Los hechos valen más que las palabras”. ¿Un nuevo discernimiento? Para nada. Pablo dice a los filipenses que lo llenarían de alegría si los que claman ser creyentes, de hecho, bus-can el interés de los otros y no el propio. “Obras son amores y no buenas razones”. ¿Una idea novedosa? No lo creo. En el relato de Jesús del viñador y sus dos hijos, todos saben que el que dijo que no trabajaría, pero lo hizo le lleva la delantera al que dijo que trabajaría, pero no lo hizo. “Fácil es hablar”. ¿Ya lo oíste antes? FAMILIAR INSIGHTS
Spiritual teachers tend to repeat themselves, and to repeat other teachers. Maybe there really are not that many different truths to tell. Just a lot of slow, sleepy hu-man beings—like us—who need to hear the basics over and over. Consider today’s readings.
People complain God is not “fair,” and Ezekiel an-swers that God is more than fair. People choose their own fates, and people can change. Even evildoers can turn, do right, and live. “Ac ons speak louder than words.” A fresh new insight? Hardly.
Paul tells the Philippians that he would truly be en-couraged if those who claimed to be believers would, in fact, look to others’ interests and not their own. “The proof of the pudding is in the ea ng.” A novel idea? I don’t think so.

Reflec ons with the Word of God from the priests of St. Cecilia Parish 26thSunday- Ordinary Time Read Ezekiel 18:25-28; Philippians 2:1-11; Ma hew 21:28-32
The way of the world: Get your way, no ma er what, stand your ground, even if you are wrong do not submit. The individual is primary and belief in God is a supers ous op on. St. Paul’s message in Philippians points to the way of Jesus who submits to us first and invites our surrender to him. He offers no resistance when we mock him, beat him, and crucify him. Why? Because he is meek not weak, humble not proud, and serves rather than be served. He comes not to win an argument but to win our hearts, so we win each other’s hearts rather than break each other’s spirits.
Jesus offers a parable about doing the Father’s will. A dad orders his two sons to go out and work the vine-yard. Remember from last week, vineyard work is very labor intensive. One son says, “no I will not” and lat-er changes his mind and obeys. The second son says, “yes sir” and later disobeys. What made them change their minds? Their choice was made a er leaving their father’s presence and dad was no longer seen. The disobedient son might have thought, out of sight out of mind; the obedient son thought out of sight out of mind; but not dad’s love for me and I owe him loving obedience.
We always have the help of God the Father who is unseen. This is the adventure of faith, for if we could see God there would be no merit in obedience. To help our struggle to obey God’s will: 1) We can look to the strength many people receive from surrendering everything to Jesus Christ, especially as he is the living Pres-ence in the Eucharist. 2) We can contrast the mes when we followed the commands of the Lord with the moments when did it “my way.” What no ceable differences are revealed? St. Francis de Sales wrote: During the day remember you stand in God’s presence. Consider what He does and what you are doing. You will find his eyes turned toward you and perpetually fixed on you in incompara-ble love. God bless you. Help the way of the world change its mind!
Reflexiones de la Palabra de Dios por los Padres de la Iglesia Santa Cecilia XXVI Domingo-Tiempo Ordinario Lee Ezequiel 18:25-28; Filipenses 2:1-11; Mateo 21:28-32
El camino del mundo: encuentre su camino, no importa cuál, manténgase firme, incluso si usted está equivo-cado siga. El ser humano es creyente en Dios y a la vez supers cioso. El mensaje de San Pablo a los Filipen-ses indica que el camino de Jesús se dirige a nosotros y nos invita rendirnos a él. No ofrece resistencia cuan-do nos burlamos de él, lo golpeamos y lo crucificamos. ¿Por qué? Porque es manso, no débil, humilde, no orgulloso, y sirve en lugar de ser servido. No viene a ganar una discusión, sino a ganarnos el corazón, así que nos ganamos el corazón del uno al otro. No a destrozarnos entre nosotros. Jesús ofrece una parabola para hacer la voluntad del Padre. Un padre le dice a sus dos hijos que salgan a tra-bajar en el viñedo. Escuchamos la semana pasada sobre los trabajadores de viñedo. Un hijo dice, "no lo haré" y más tarde cambia de opinión y obedece. El segundo dice, "sí señor" y luego desobedece. ¿Qué los hizo cambiar de opinión? Su elección se tomó después de dejar la presencia de su padre. Sacrament of Marriage The Pastoral Guidelines for Marriage Prepara-tion are that a minimum of 7 months be set aside for personal preparation for marriage. Couples should refrain from setting a firm date until after they have called the office to discuss marriage plans. Weddings are celebrated Saturdays at 2pm. Quinceañeras Celebraciones son Sábados. Las quinceañeras tienen que haber recibido los sacramentos (por lo menos 1ra Comunión). Comuníquese con la ofi-cina para hacer una cita por lo menos 4 meses antes de la celebración. Para reservar la fecha de la Quinceañera la donación es de $350 y se debe traer el día de la cita.
