Dear Parents, Our First Communicants participated in the first of the two day retreat on Thursday. The retreat continues tomorrow at St. Cecilia. They will make their First Reconciliation tomorrow at the retreat and their First Communion at the 2:00 Mass on Sunday. Please keep these children in your prayers and feel free to join us at this Mass. The 8 th grade and chaperones including Father Connolly return from New York City late this evening. I look forward to hearing about their experience in the Big Apple! Euchre Night is approaching as it will take place on Saturday, May 12 th . Doors open at 6:15 and we begin playing at 7:00. Beginners are welcome to play! Please see the attached registration form in this newsletter. It is $20.00 per person to participate. Registration forms and payment are due by Wednesday, May 9 th . All of the proceeds will go to tuition assistance! I hope you can join us for an enjoyable evening. Today Kindergarten, 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd grade students went to see CAPAs production of The Throne of Oz. Thanks to PTO for providing the transportation funding. The May Crowning Ceremony is next Friday, May 11 th at 2:00 in the church. Please join us for this beautiful ceremony and no RSVP is needed. If you want your child to sit with you in the church please be seated by 1:50. Students will not be permitted to move seats in the church once the ceremony begins. Kindergarten students must remain in their assigned seats as they have a role in the ceremony. Every student should bring a flower on Friday to add to their classroom vase that will be placed at the statue of the Blessed Mother during the ceremony. Enrollment paperwork and the registration fee were due today, unless you had a Spanish translated packet. Those families with a Spanish packet have until Tuesday, May 8 th to turn in the enrollment packet and registration fee. Best of luck to any of our students who are participating in the Diocesan track meet, or any baseball games. Go Crusaders! Have a great weekend! Estimados padres,

Nuestros estudiantes que van a tomar la primera comunión participaron en el primer día del retiro el jueves. El segundo día del retiro continua mañana en Santa Cecilia. Ellos harán la primera reconciliación mañana durante el retiro y la primera comunión en la misa de las 2:00pm el domingo.

El octavo grado y los adultos que los están acompañando, incluyendo el padre Connolly, regresarán de Nueva York tarde esta noche. ¡Yo estoy ilusionada en escuchar sobre sus experiencias en el “Big Apple” (la manzana grande)!

La noche de “euchre” se acerca y se llevara a cabo el sábado, 12 de mayo. Las puertas abren a las 6:15pm y comenzaremos a jugar a las 7pm. ¡Los principiantes son bienvenidos a jugar! Por favor mire el formulario del inscripción en este boletín. La cuota para participar es $20.00 dólares por cada persona. Los formularios y la cuota se deben pagar antes del miércoles, 9 de mayo. ¡Todos los fondos irán para la ayuda de la matricula! Yo espero que ustedes se puedan reunir con nosotros para una noche agradable.

Hoy los estudiantes del kínder, primer grado, segundo grado y tercer grado fueron a ver una producción de CAPAs, el “Throne of Oz” (el Trono de Oz). Gracias al PTO por proporcionar los fondos del transporte.

La ceremonia de la coronación de mayo es el próximo viernes, 11 de mayo a las 2:00pm en la iglesia. Por favor reúnanse con nosotros para esta hermosa ceremonia. No se necesita hacer una reservación. Si ustedes quieren que sus hijos se sientan con ustedes en la iglesia, por favor tomen sus puestos antes de la 1:50pm. No se le permitirá a los estudiantes de cambiar puestos en la iglesia después de que comience la ceremonia. Los estudiantes del kínder se deben quedar en sus puestos por lo que tienen un rol en la ceremonia. Cada estudiante debe traer una flor el viernes para agregarlo al jarrón de su clase, que será colocado en la estatua de la Santísima madre durante la ceremonia.

El límite de entrega del papeleo y de la cuota de la inscripción se debían hoy, excepto si ustedes tenían un paquete en español. Estas familias tienen hasta el martes, 8 de mayo para entregar el paquete y la cuota.

Mucha suerte a todos los estudiantes que están participando en la competencia de atletismo de la diócesis, o cualquier partido de beisbol. ¡Dale Cruzados!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Join us for a three session instructional camp led and facilitated by the coaches and players of the Central Catholic League! This camp will emphasize the virtues of faith-based education within athletics with a focus on FUNdamentals: Safety, Teamwork and FUN! grade students…due to several scheduling conflicts, our Edge night on Saturday, May 5

th is being

rescheduled for Saturday, May 19th

from 6:30-8:30 pm. We will meet in the gym following the 5:00 Mass for a night of fun, food, & friends. This will be our last Edge night of the school year and all our current 5

th grade PSR and School students are

invited to attend to check out what Edge is all about. Several of our 8th

grade students will be planning and running the night, so it is bound to be a fun time…you won’t want to miss it!

Save the date for this year’s Gospel Road Mission Trip…

July 15th through July 19th!

Gospel Road is a five day mission focused work camp, sponsored by the Diocese of Columbus, for youth in grades 9-12. Current 8th grade students are also welcome to attend this summer. Gospel Road is designed to allow teens the opportunity to live the Gospel Message of love while helping them learn practical skills such as painting, building, landscaping, etc. while working with caring adults who spend the week teaching, mentoring, and growing in conjunction with them. This summer, Gospel Road with be hosted by St. Patrick’s Church in London, Ohio, and will primarily be serving those in need in the Madison County area. Cost is $135/participant and covers the cost of all housing and meals. Scholarships are also available to help cover the cost. Registration materials can be obtained by contacting Katie Wohrle at [email protected] or by calling (614) 878-5353. All registrations must be received by May 10th.

The last session of Parents Night Out for this school

year will be held on Friday, May 18th from 6:30-9:00

p.m. We will be having a movie night on this

evening, and the children are welcome to come

dressed in their pajamas & bring a blanket to lie on.

Basketball On Friday night December 15th St. Cecilia will host our annual Midnight Madness basketball event. 4 of our school basketball teams will host games here at St. Cecilia. 7th Grade girls at 6 PM 8th Grade girls at 7: 05, 7th Grade Boys 8:10 and finally 8th Grade Boys at 9:15. We are hoping all our students will come out an cheer on their classmates. We are asking for you to show your school spirit and wear Navy Blue and Vegas gold. We hope to see you there.

Athletic Meeting

Keeping the Faith: Why We Play, Coach and Cheer The St. Cecilia Athletic Association will be sponsoring a free mini-retreat

for student athletes of all ages, coaches, and parents. “Keeping the Faith: Why We Play, Coach, and Cheer” will be offered on Sunday, April 22nd and 29th

from 3:00 to 4:00 in the Parish Activity Center(gym). Both days will include different guest

speakers, testimonies from student athletes from The Ohio State University, engaging break-out

sessions, refreshments, and a raffle. All guests are welcome to attend either or both days. As

athletes, we are able to compete because of the abilities that God has given us. Come and hear how

area collegiate student-athletes and college athletic administrators have used their talents to serve

and evangelize for Christ. Also, learn practical tips on how coaches and parents can encourage and

help their children maintain their faith while at home, on the court, or on their own at school.

OPEN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION BOARD POSITION The Athletic Association would like to announce that Mr. Josh Dinan, our Treasurer for the last 3 school years, is stepping down at the end of May. Josh has served as a key member on the board and has coached many sports including Basketball, Softball, Track and starting our Cross Country program. He will be deeply missed. The Treasure position for the Athletic Association board will need to be filled! This roles serves as a voting board member and handles the Athletic Finances. Accounting background is great but not required, applicants must be a current member of St. Cecilia Parish; however you do not have to have a child currently in the program We will be taking applications and conducting interviews over the next few weeks. WHO – All basketball players entering grades 7 & 8 will play in the NBA Division; all basketball players in grades 5 & 6 will play in the College Division WHEN - College Division: Tuesday nights, June 5 - July 24 NBA Division: Thursday nights, June 7 - July 26 All games will be played from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. WHERE – Bishop Ready High School Gymnasium COST - $90; includes a reversible uniform, minimum of eight license-officiated games, postseason awards, & post-season all-star game.
