Spirit of Christmas Ministry The St. Charles Spirit of Christmas Ministry offers help to those in need at Christmas. Founded 33 years ago by our late parish secretary Karen Whitcomb, the Spirit of Christmas Ministry’s main objective was always to help the less fortunate parishioners of St. Charles get toys for their children for Christmas morning. Over the years St. Charles’ parishioners’ generosity has never failed her most neediest. We are now collecting giftcards to be distributed to families in need who have applied for help. December 1, 2021 is the deadline for gift card return. We wish to offer our families gift cards to local stores and online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, along with Market Basket/Stop & Shop or any other local shop that could be of help to them. There are gift tags available in the churches and can be returned in the weekly collection. Also, the gift-cards can be dropped off to the Parish Center at 8 Summer Street, or the outside drop box on the front of the building. Please consider helping out our faith community with this effort. St. Charles provides for the needs of so many of its families. Please return giftcards by the deadline of De-cember 1st. As always, thank you !

Preschool– Grade 8 Open House St. Charles school will host an in-person Open House on Wednesday, November 17, from 5-7 pm. All inter-ested families interested in Preschool through Grade 8 are welcome! We ask those who attend to wear a mask in the school buildings.

New Bulletin Company We are moving to a new bulletin company Pilot Bulletin. During the next few months, we would like to recreate our bulletin. It’s important to keep you all up to date as to what is happening in our Parish and school but we thought it might be a great time to hear what is happening with you!! News to Share? If you have something to share about Saint Charles, please reach out to Linda. It’s a great opportunity to hear what is going in our pews!

Grand Annual Campaign The FY2022 budget and Grand annual letter has been mailed. As you all know, this campaign is an extremely important request for support to our Par-ish. We have a goal this year of $110k and it is all earmarked for much needed repairs on the campus. Brian O’Donnell, Vice Chair Finance council will be presenting at each Mass. Thank you for your support in helping maintain this historical property.

A View from the Pew News from the Pews is a bulletin section we will dedicate to hearing from you! Each week we will hear from a parishioner about their faith walk. My faith journey began at birth and my faith educa-tion began in Kindergarten in a parochial school. I was diligent and focused on my faith throughout high school and college. My faith was formed a great deal by my grandparents example of going to church dai-ly as well volunteering and creating strong bonds with all clergymen and nuns. Around 2003, I did turn away from going to church for a myriad of doubts and frustrations both person-ally as well as with some with actions of the church but never lost my faith in God. In 2010, my husband and I started to feel we were losing our faith and needed to find a way to reconnect. While attending a funeral for my father in law we were really moved by the homily. Later that month we decided we needed a more dedicated path in our faith as well as with our son and our soon to be born daughter. We recommit-ted to weekly Mass as a family and it strengthened our faith, rejuvenated our commitment to each other and fostered new habits and traditions of our Catho-lic faith. One aspect of my personality has always been volunteering. As a child I enjoyed being a classroom helper and as a young teen I often was asked to be a mother’s helper with Moms with new babies. I felt called to volunteer where people needed help. I knew my whole life how important helping others was as a huge way to be like God. We joined St. Charles Parish about 3 years ago. Presently I volun-teer both at St. Charles Elementary School, St. Charles Church and St. Vincent de Paul. Volunteer-ing to me is a way of taking pride in St. Charles as well welcoming others to St. Charles and making their experience welcoming and warm. Volunteering also helps me feel closer to God and to be a good example to my children as well as to those around me. Being active in a community like St. Charles al-lows me to know more people as well to help people. From simply saying good morning as a Greeter at the door on Sundays to serving on the altar and per-forming the act of Eucharistic minister I feel closer to God. For me volunteering is the easiest way to express my love and appreciation I have for our St. Charles community. Kathleen Trowbridge

St Vincent DePaul St Vincent DePaul offers many different opportuni-ties for parishioners to use their skills. Are you going through some financial difficulty? Call us to see how we can help you. Currently, we have a need for funds to assist us in assisting you . We rely 100% on donations, from you! We have clients with rent arrearage, those who may need to get their utilities back on, obtain a supply of oil, or purchase clothing. Half depend on our food pantry for weekly shortages. Saint Vincent de Paul serves our community as a source of life improvement. For a large percentage of individuals and families in the city of Woburn, financial stability is more a dream than a goal. Our clients are struggling with hunger, keeping their home, clothing their children, and even getting medicine. Please consider a weekly or a monthly donation commitment. Please donate!!! No amount is too small. Take an envelope and drop it in the weekly collection bag. Envelopes are always available. New Organ! We had a truly beautiful beginning to the St Charles Organ dedication and blessing. Due to the great generosity of Mr & Mrs John Flaherty we have a new organ in the upper church. On Saturday November 6th at the 4:00pm Mass Bishop Mark O’Connell blessed our new organ and Wesley Hall played a great selection of some historic pieces of music that show off the exceptional quality of this new treasure of St. Charles. We are very thankful for everyone’s enthusiasm and participation in this historic event!
