Taylor and Payton Week "Lord, bless and watch over Payton and Taylor as they prepare to receive the Holy Spirit. Guide them in heart and soul to learn your will. May they grow in each of the 'Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit'…Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Forti-tude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. Amen.”

Christ is our Hope in every season of Life was a recent essay contest put on by the Diocese of Duluth. Here are two essays written. Payton Week Essay: Christ is our hope in every season of life. Christ is our hope in everything we do. We lean on him, and pray with him to give us hope in our lives. No matter what season of life we are in, Christ gives us hope. I believe more people need to reach out to Christ and ask for help. Trust the Lord!

Everyone complains about not having any freedom or any rights, but in reality when they give us those things, some people still decide they want to have an abortion. Abortion is a serious matter in this lifetime, and it needs to be ad-dressed. It is not right to end babies lives. They should be viewed as a gift and a miracle, not a burden like some see them as, in this generation. This world is so messed up when it comes to ending their own DNA, their own child’s life. Don’t kill your baby because you think you’re not ready to care, love, or give this baby the life you know it deserves. This world has adoption with loving families as an alternative option. I think it’s sad that an 18-year-old girl seems to care more about abortion than many adults do. I can’t imagine that feeling of guilt would every go away in killing your child, knowing you had better options, but never even asked. Abortion is not acceptable!

I saw the movie “Unplanned” and I believe everyone needs to watch this film. It makes you feel the pain and sadness every woman does when they go through it. The movie also makes you feel the pain of the abortion on the ba-by. Abortion shouldn’t be a “thing” at all. Abortion needs to stop!

I’m a full believer in “40 Days for Life,” and that it should be more than just words on posters by the road. The move-ment needs to be respected, heard very loudly, and never stop. Abortion needs to go away!

I picked abortion for my essay because it is a serious matter in this time. Abortion is wrong, and we need to let people know that we are there for them in their time of need. We can pray for them and their child, and we need to let those people know we are praying for them. This should be a season of life. Abortion is not life!

Christ is always there to help. Christ is always there for everyone who needs him. He loves you, and always has a plan. Trust in the Lord, and he will do great things. Pray to end abortion!

Taylor Week Essay:

Christ is our hope in every season of life. Being sixteen years old, I need lots of hope. I turn to Christ to give me that hope. Hope to not have a shooting at school, hope that people know there are better options than abortion, and the hope in getting confirmed.

Being a 16-year-old girl in today’s world is not all that sim-ple. We have a lot of things on our plate, and have to plan our upcoming future. We are the future. We need to know what is right from wrong, and who to go to when we have questions and need help. We’re never alone. God is always there, whether we can see Him or not.

A big problem in today’s world are school shootings. At my age, this includes something I have to worry about. Imagine getting to class and hearing the teacher say, “We are practicing ALICE training today." (ALICE means Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.) This makes me think why are people doing this? What happened in their life that they want to make others and their families miserable? Maybe they just need someone to talk to and pray to for help.

Abortion is another big problem in society. Some decide to end an unborn child’s life who still has a heartbeat, just be-cause they aren’t ready for the responsibility of raising a child. If you aren’t ready for the responsibility, there are options, like adoption. I want people to know what they are doing is wrong. I do not want them to even question if they should keep the child or not. End abortion!

Confirmation is a big step in a teenager’s life. It’s a step closer to God. I’m excited to get confirmed, because I want to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit. It will further my faith and help me have a stronger relationship with God. It’s a step closer to what God has planned for me.

In conclusion, it’s not easy being a 16-year-old girl, but with the help from God I know I can do it.
