THISEUCHARISTICFEAST ESTAFIESTAEUCARÍSTICA Some things about human nature don’t change, even over the course of centuries. When we celebrate a holiday, we have a meal; when we celebrate a signi icant event, we have a feast. In today’s irst reading, Lady Wisdom is setting a feast, a sign of celebrating the covenant that Israel has with God. Israel’s central remembrance of its saving Exodus covenant is the Passover meal. So it is natural—and not coinci-dental—that the Christian celebration of the new covenant sealed by the blood of Christ on the cross happens at a meal, our Eucharist, offered irst by Jesus in the context of Passover re-membrance. It is easy for us, sometimes, to forget the very long and rich religious and human origins of our eucharistic feasting on the bread and cup that are the Body and Blood of Jesus. To-day, and for the next few Sundays that we hear the “Bread of Life” discourse from John, let us bring to mind the loving cove-nant that God makes with us, and be illed with great joy at this marvelous feast that we have come to attend!

Por lo tanto, es natural y no casual que la celebracion cris-tiana de la nueva alianza sellada por la sangre de Cristo en la cruz sea una comida, nuestra Eucaristıa, la cual primero fue ofrecida por Jesus durante la conmemoracion de la pascua judıa. Algunas veces nos resulta facil olvidar el rico origen religioso y humano de nuestro banquete eucarıstico de pan y vino que son el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Jesus. Hoy y en los proximos domingos que escuchemos el discurso sobre el “Pan de Vida” por boca de Juan, recordemos la generosa alianza que Dios forja con noso-tros y llenemonos de alegrıa con este maravilloso banquete al que somos invitados.

UPDATEONAIRCONDITIONINGCAMPAIGN The following is an update in our air conditioner project. This project has been taken seriously and we need your cooperation and patience as it is a costly project. The following is what we have collected. • Second Collections and Donations from April 2017 to the present: $ 85,442.64 • Funds Held in Trust (Percentage of Fiesta Proceeds of 2016, 2017, 2018): $80,000 Preliminary cost of replacing the church air conditioner is be-tween $ 200,000 to $ 300,000. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles Building Committee is working to compile a list of credible companies and begin to look for bids for this project. Our current archdiocesan project manager had an emergency medical leave, and the project is on hold until a new project manager is assigned to our project.

PROPER SUMMER (HOT WEATHER) ATTIRE The hot weather months are here and the com-ing months might be characterized as “casual”. However, we respectfully ask that ALL parish-ioners make an effort to dress appropriately for Sunday Eucharist. Short shorts, cut-off jeans, tank tops, ath-letic shirts and short skirts are very inappropriate in the House of God. Our respect for the Lord and the other mem-bers of Christ’s body demands that we dress appropriately. Does what I am wearing show respect for where I am going to and tell everyone how I feel about this sacred action?

The purpose is to help us prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. NoFoodandDrinkinChurch. The exceptions would be a drink for small children, water for the priest or choir (if dis-creet) and water for those who are ill. Bringing a snack into church is not appropriate, because we want to set the church apart as a place of prayer and re lection.
