Items of Note:

On the way home from Mass consider asking:

What is your favorite name that people call you? What do you like to be called? Can you imagine what name God has just for you?

celebrating sunday all the way home:

Each Sunday we will offer a question to help you and your children begin a conversation on the home from mass. We hope that many of the reflec-tions and questions will enrich your family's life of faith. Singing the hymns, noting the change of colors of the seasons and sitting where they can see the gestures of the Mass are all ways you, as your children's first and most important teachers, form them in our faith.

Enjoy the ride they will take you on!

St. Francis Xavier Church began a new tradition this year to honor outstanding service to the parish. The St. Alphonsus Rodriquez, S.J. Award was given to Richard Keller for his many years of devoted service to the repair and improvement of the St. Francis Xavier campus. Among his many notable accomplishments was the work on the wheelchair accessible ramp into the church; leading the renovation of the Loyola Center basement for the child care center; the building, staining, and installation of the pew pamphlet holders; the building of radiator covers in both the church and the Loyola Center; and most recently the selection and oversight of the contractor hired to repair the exterior of the church. Richard continues to support the church with his advice, his craftsmanship, and his devotion to keeping St. Francis Xavier Parish in the best possible shape for future generations. Thank you Richard!

Autumn fresh beginnings

Here are a few tips for maximizing a grace-filled year:

• Make Mass your top weekend priority.• Consider how best to use your talents in the

service of the parish. Pray over the ministry which calls to you the most.

• Make an appointment to introduce yourself to our pastor and staff members.

• Serve those in need through parish activities.• Consider taking an adult faith formation class.• Visit your child’s faith formation class and introduce yourself to the teacher. Let your children know that religious education is a priority to you, and be sure to thank in some way the parishioners who give of their time and talent to this ministry.• Review your financial giving. Consider online

giving -your year round support helps St. Francis Xavier flourish.(sfxmissoula.org/ Donate)

Altar Server Training

We will have altar server training on Sunday, September 23rd after the 10am Mass, right here in the church. Please join long-time server Whitney Bloomdahl and some of our other experienced altar servers for this hands-on altar server training. Even if you aren’t sure you are ready for this ministry yet, come see what it’s like to have an intimate view of Mass. If you have served before, but feel that you could use a “refresher,” please feel free to join us. Anyone who has made their First Communion (adults, too) are welcome to be altar servers.

Questions? Contact Blakely - [email protected] or 541-6040

Attention Past Just Faith & SEEL Participants:

We are hoping to start a new EngagingSpirituality group this fall. It is a 21-week spiritual deepen-ing process for adult Christians who are seeking to bring the power of the Holy Spirit to bear upon the needs of our world. We all hunger for intimacy, with our Maker and our neighbor. EngagingSpirituality invites small groups of concerned Christians to look at the world together and enter deeply into the criti-cal realties of our day as they break open their lives. EngagingSpirituality encourages us to BE STILL and STILL BE in the storms of life that surround us. The approximate cost is $90 per participant.

If you are interested, please call Pam in the parish office for more information.

Come make music with us!

The St. Francis Choir will be starting up Sunday, September 16th at the 10:00 am mass. If you would like to sing with the choir, contact Blakely at 541-6040, [email protected], and plan on being in the Parish Office basement at 8:45 am on Sept. 16th.

Couples Corner

When children come along, it can be easy to focus all your attention on parenting. But don’t let your kids take up all your time and neglect your spouse! Children benefit most from a strong marriage. Consider having a weekly date night or another intentional time alone with your spouse.
