You are invited to be part of ‘the change’! Come join us Monday (June 25th) at 7 PM in the Boutin Center. We are planning a Faith Support Committee to help guide us through

the changes in the CCD and Adult Enrichment programs. Anyone interested in being part of this should attend. If you cannot attend but are interested in helping out, call the parish office at 934-5013.

We hate to talk money, BUT we’re not making it. We are $10,000 short at the end of the fiscal year 2017-2018. Please consider putting an additional dollar in your weekly envelope or adding a dollar to your weekly donation (e-giving or cash in the bas-ket) in 2018-2019. It is often hard to look at our church as a business but we have to meet our monthly/yearly obligations just like everyone else. We work hard to be prudent in our spending but there are always those unexpected crises that effect our bottom line! Thank you for your consideration!

The diocesan program related to the changes in receiving Sacraments of Initiation is called RESTORE, RENEW, PROCLAIM, The Hope that is Christ! You can find more information on their web page: catholicnh.org/lifelong.

FREE LUNCH: The Franklin Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Twin Rivers Clergy Fellowship and Franklin High School will be making lunches available during the summer months Pick-up lunches will be available

at Franklin High School (119 Central Street) and the program is open to all children 18 and under. Lunches can be picked up Monday thru Friday between 12 PM and 12:30PM starting June 25th through August. The St. Gabriel team serves on Thursdays. Our team is co-chaired by Ernie Solis (603-998-0260) and Deacon Tom (603-934-6680). If you can help out on Thursday, give them a call. For more information on the program or to volunteer to help on another day contact Krystal at 603-934-2118. This program reaches out to those who de-pend on the school lunch programs.

Note: There will be no morning mass on Wednesday, June 27.

The collection next week is for the Works of the Holy Father (Peter’s Pence). It enables the Holy Father to provide emergency financial assistance to some of the poorest place on earth, especially those who suffer as a result

of war, oppression, and natural disasters. The Dio-cese does assess our parish $1,296.00 for this collec-tion. Please be as generous as you can.

Thank you to the anonymous donor who saw that we were running short this year and donated $1,500! We appreciate your generosity and may God Bless you for it!

Faith is the daring of the soul to go further than it can see!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“It’s to die for!” A few years ago, this expression was pretty popular and referred to food, fashion or fun activities. Of course, no one really intended to die for any of them, but it made a point. Today, we celebrate John the Baptist who showed us what it means to die for a cause. He took God’s Commandments to heart and wasn’t afraid to confront the king for violating them. He too made a point, but he made it at the cost of his life. In this age of inclusiveness, compromise and accommodation, is there any value or belief that I would be willing to risk my life to defend or promote? We’ve all seen people who stand for hours in front of abortion clinics to proclaim the sacredness of human life, others who risk fines and jail for refusing to bake cakes or take pictures at a same-sex marriage cere-mony, some who travel across the country or the world to advocate for refugees, and the victims of nat-

ural disasters, government oppression or armed con-flict. And I’m sure that most of us would risk our lives to save someone trapped in a burning building, drowning in a lake or about to be hit by a speeding car. Of course, we’re hoping we will never be put to the test. But I have to ask myself: is there a cause out there that I believe strongly enough in, that I am passionate about, that I would be willing to risk it all: my money, my possessions and even my life, to pro-mote or defend? There’s an old country song that states: “You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything!” How many people out there have fallen for just about every kind of deviation from Christ’s teachings because I haven’t found something I want to stand for or I can’t muster the conviction or courage of a John the Baptist?
