STEWARDSHIP / CORRESPONSABILIDAD
Gratitude in Action: Our Way of Life / Gratitud en Acción: Nuestra forma de Vida
Alleluia! “The strife is o’er, the battle done; Now is the
Victor’s triumph won; O let the song of praise be sung.”1
He is risen! We have been set free from the throes of sin
and death with promise of eternal life with Christ!
Throughout Lent, we sought opportunities to fast, maybe
from worldly pleasures and enticements; to be charitable
in our giving to the poor or those less fortunate than
ourselves; and to pray to God in personal, private
moments, as well as less intimate times of community
prayer gatherings.
We challenged ourselves to become more acutely aware of
the Lord’s presence and the ways in which He calls us to
live, perhaps seeking detachment from the ways of our
world.
Jesus is Alive! This is the opening presentation of Tracy
Earl Welliver, MTS, who will facilitate our Parish Mission
beginning Sunday evening, May 12 at 6:30 in the Church.
Tracy will revisit the basics of EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP:
Reflections for the Journey, which include being Mindful,
Prayerful, Grateful, Gracious, Committed and
Accountable.
Tracy will reflect on what real growth looks like when one
chooses to live this way of life. He will also identify what
implications this growth has on our relationship with
Jesus.
“Discipleship and stewardship”, Tracy points out, “require
a relationship with a Jesus that is alive and real.” If we fail
to grow in this relationship, our spirituality will not
withstand the challenges of this world in which we exist.
Is it possible to live your life with Jesus at the center,
embracing the way of life He encourages, in spite of the
enticements and temptations of our world that lure us into
believing those are far more important than the life and
spiritual gifts God generously provides us?
Can we readily admit everything we own belongs to God
and we are merely tending them while on this earthly
journey? Can we honestly say we do not own all these
things and they do not own us?
Living as a disciple or steward is not necessarily an easy
way of life. It is, however, a fruitful, joy-filled life just as
the promise of eternal life.

¡Aleluya!
alabanza sea cantado!”1 ¡Ha resucitado!
Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS, quien facilitará nuestra
Agradecido, Amable, Comprometido y Responsable.
Si no

Pastor’s Message by Father Oscar Martin Picos
Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord / Domingo de Pascua de la Resurrección del Señor
Happy Easter!
The Resurrection is a difficult subject to
explain. In non-Christian societies, its
meaning and reality have not penetrated.
More people believe in reincarnation than in
the Resurrection. The reason is quite simple:
reincarnation is considered as a new opportunity for
temporal life, while the Resurrection is a definitive
conclusion on the path of life. Christians believe in the
Resurrection, not in reincarnation.
Many times, we overlook the same reality of the two
apostles in today’s Word. Both of them experience the
Resurrection, but one sees it from the door and the other
enters where the event occurred. Those who wish to have
a greater knowledge of Christ must go down to the depth
of the grave, to understand the reality of what has
happened.
Are we Christian witnesses of the Resurrection? We need
to ask this question of ourselves: Is my life a testimony of
the Resurrection? Am I a good example of the resurrected?
The Resurrection is life, born for
the life of God, to be in Him, to
enjoy forever His tenderness and
His presence.
The Resurrection is the engine of
our faith. It is what drives our
journey.
To believe in the Resurrection is to
let God take the last word in our
lives. It is not to hinder Him from
making His promise of eternal life
come true.
Again, Happy Easter!
¡Feliz Pascua!

ANNOUNCEMENTS and EVENTS
The following is an original poem, written and submitted
by parishioner and childrens’ book author Terry Taylor.
The Amazing Grace of Prayer
Nothing can or will compare
To the feeling of a prayer.
If, from deep inside, you dare …
There’s no ceiling to a prayer.
It’s not just something ‘in the air’,
Or simply, on a whim, ‘a prayer’.
It’s what your heart and soul lay bare
While sharing, “right with Him”, a prayer.
Say just one, or pray a pair.
You’re always overdue for prayer.
Whether in your dentist’s chair
Or on your knees in pew for prayer.
While at work, where some may stare,
Never shy away from prayer.
Anytime and anywhere …
There’s never not a day for prayer.
Sunny, cloudy, rainy, fair …
The weather’s always right for prayer.
Well-done, medium or rare …
Savor every bite of prayer.
Pray for those who’re unaware
That they’re even in your prayer.
Pray for those who’re in despair …
That they may begin a prayer.
And pray that those, who just don’t care
About a home and place for prayer,
Will maybe, one day, learn … then share
The real amazing grace of prayer.
