MEMORIAL LITURGIES If you would like to schedule a memorial liturgy, please complete and return the form that was mailed out to the church office. Every effort will be made to accommodate your first choice of date for your liturgy. However, that may not always be possible. In addition, you may also provide the flowers for the liturgy (in memory of your loved ones, in hon-or of someone or for a special intention) and/or refreshments for the fellowship after the 11:00 AM Liturgy and you will be acknowledged in the church weekly bulletin.
SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP We still need families to sign up to provide re-freshments for the fellowship hour following the 11:00 AM liturgy. A simple array of sweets (donuts, cookies) to compliment the coffee that is provided, is greatly appreciated. Please contact Lina Noujeim at 210-483-3063 or the church of-fice to sign up.
PARISH BUSINESS DIRECTORY We are in the process of creating a Parish Busi-ness Directory. ST. MARON’S WEEKEND On Sunday, February 12, 2017 we will celebrate the feast day of St. Maron. During the 11:00 AM liturgy, church officers will receive a special blessing during . A reception will follow to honor the 2016 Silver Massabki, Faith of the Mountain, St George Appreciation Award Recipients, and other awards. Remember, to be eligible for the Massabki Medal or the Faith of the Mountain, you must have been a member in good standing of NAM for at least one year prior to your nomination.
HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE A briefing on the Holy Land Pilgrimage will take place on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 6:30 PM in the church. All the participants, please save the date.
END OF YEAR STATEMENTS The end of year tax statements have been mailed out. If you do not receive your statement by the end of the week or if there is a mistake, please call the church office at 210-690-9569.
TRIBUTE FOR A LOVED ONE You have the chance to create a Tribute in Honor or Memory of Someone. Parishioners of St. George Maronite Church; there is a special way to demonstrate your generosity by creating a lasting tribute in honor of a loved one. To acknowledge your contribution, an en-graved plaque with the commemoration will be added to an item purchased if possible. Your con-tribution will be acknowledged and you will re-ceive a thank you letter for your donation for tax purposes. At this time the choir needs a hymn dis-play, the cost is $150. Please contact Fr. Charles or the church office for more information.
ASH MONDAY Monday, February 27, is Ash Monday, the begin-ning of the season of Great Lent. Anyone who has blessed palms from last year, please bring them to the church office or to the church by February 12th. We will be burning them to use in the Ash Monday service. Liturgy on Ash Monday will be at 7:00 PM followed by a Mjaddra dinner benefit-ing the MYO at the MCC.

Scholarship Program
Information for Scholarship Applicants
Criteria for Application:
The family and individual must be active members of St. George Catholic Church for the previous four years.
Active membership is described as:
1. Attending Church regularly and Contributing time and money to the Church through the Stewardship Pro-gram.
2. The applying student must be involved in the parish community evidenced by one or more activities (for example, regular attendance at Sunday Liturgy and/or religious education; membership in the Maronite Youth Organization; parish community service hours in church activities, etc.)
3. The recipient must be a graduating high school senior or equivalent (GED) recipient
Procedure for Application:
The award is only for fully matriculated entering freshmen to an accredited community college, college or university, and it is to be used for education expenses.
Applications must be postmarked or received by April 8 to be considered for the next academic year.
All eligible applicants will receive a scholarship.
The amount of scholarship funds to be awarded will be determined annually by the Scholarship Committee Governing Board and will be dependent on funds available and the number of applicants.
E. A certificate of Scholarship Award will be presented to the student in May. The money made payable by check to the student will be awarded when the student enrolls in the institution and submits verification by sending copies:
a. Of class schedule, and Tuition and fee statement.
