~~~~A NOTE FROM OUR PASTORA NOTE FROM OUR PASTORA NOTE FROM OUR PASTORA NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR~~~~
Thanks to all who donated blood at our parish’s recent Red Cross Blood Drive. A total of 47 units were donated. Thanks to Mary Ellen Woehrman, Jo Anne Dean and Larry Dean for registering donors and helping the day of the Blood Drive itself. The concert held last Sunday in our church was a wonderful prayer-ful experience! More than 300 people a.ended the interac/ve con-cert featuring the composers and musicians David Haas, Lori True and our own Music Director Zack Stachowski. It was the first /me we had the opportunity to hear Zack play the violin and he played beau/fully! The concert was interac/ve in that those of us gath-ered sang along with David, Lori, and Zack forming an angelic sing-ing assembly! I thank Maura Choudhary, our parishioner, who also played the violin, Steve Petrunak, who played the guitar, and Na-talie Spehar, who played the cello. I thank our staff member, Chris Walters for all of his good work behind the scenes in regards to the concert. Thanks also goes to Michael Giangrasso for his work with our sound system for the concert. I thank all the staff who helped with /cket sales. Lastly, I thank Zack for his ini/a/ve in making this great con-cert here at St. Igna/us a reality. We look forward to future con-certs. Each parish of the Archdiocese is incorporated separately with the Archbishop, the pastor and two lay corporators serving as officers of the corpora/on. I thank our re/ring corporators Charlie Wright, who has served the past 12 years, and Frank Brown, who has served as a corporator since 1989. I have valued their wisdom and counsel. At my recommenda/on, Archbishop Lori has appointed Felix Killar and Claudia Lapcevich as our parish’s new corporators. Felix has served many years as the chair of our Parish Finance Com-mi.ee. Claudia has served here as a catechist for many years. I thank Claudia and Felix for agreeing to serve as corporators for our parish. My stewardship le.er has been mailed and you may have already received it. As was shared in the le.er, we will have our annual Stewardship of Treasure at all of the Masses next weekend.
Blessings,
Fr. Mike
We are truly blessed to have them join our parish. As Catholics, we are called to be disciples of Christ, which includes reaching out to new parishioners, as well as those “un-churched and de-churched”. We need to welcome them into our parish and the Church, understanding their concerns & needs, while revealing each to the love of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in being a part of the Welcome Team, simply e-mail [email protected].
What can we do as parents to help our adult children return to the Catholic faith??
1. Love them 2. Pray for them. Our Lord told St Faustina that when one says the following prayer with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion. The prayer is: “ Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.”
Excerpt from Fr. Joe Breighner’s “More Reflections Along A Country Road”
Good Example The most effective way we share our scriptures, our understanding of the sacraments, our prayer life and our image of God, is by how we live. As someone has profoundly put it, “People may not always believe what you say, but they will always believe what you do.” So our effort is to live as Jesus asked us to live when He gave the criteria for entering the kingdom of God, “I was hungry and you fed me; thirsty and you gave me something to drink; naked and you clothed me; in prison and you visited me; a stranger and you took me in” Put simply, the best way to show our belief in God is through the sermon of our lives.
When we treat the least person the way we treat God, then we become believable and God becomes visible.
