Religious Education Classes Registration: Registration for our parish Religious Education Faith Formation Classes is now taking place in the parish office. Registration fee is $40.00 for the first child and $30.00 for each additional child of the same family. Please bring a copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate and a copy of the Birth Certificate. Mass Intentions The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the greatest and most perfect prayer we can offer because it is the prayer of Jesus Christ to the Father. The Mass is the most beautiful gift we can give to others. Masses may be offered not only for the deceased, but also for the sick, in thanksgiving for favors received, birthdays, anni-versaries, and for any special intention you may have. The donation for each Mass is $15.00. Come to the parish office on 21st Street to reserve your Masses.

Intenciones De Las Misas El Santo Sacrificio de la Misa es la oración más grande y más per-fecto que podemos ofrecer, porque es la oración de Jesucristo al Padre. La Misa es el don más hermoso que podemos dar a los demás. Memorial Candles: The memorial candles that burn for one year were up on December 31st. If you would like to reserve a candle for the year 2016, the donation is still the same - $100.00 for the entire year. You can make these arrange-ments at the rectory anytime during office hours.

Sharing the Gospel If Jesus lived next door to you, you might not believe in him. People who lived in his hometown did not believe that Jesus could heal. Everyone said, "He's just a carpenter's son, he can not heal." Jesus got tired of hearing those words. He left his hometown to go where people believed in him. Believe in Jesus, and he will be with you even when you are sick. If you believe, Jesus will help you. Jesus did not expect everybody to like him. Jesus chose to follow God's plan, no matter what oth-er people said. Even though some people wanted to hurt Jesus, he always spoke the truth. He al-ways did what was right, no matter what.

Prayer Lord, I believe. Heal me and my family.

4º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

Las lecturas de este domingo nos ayudan a com-prender que Dios es el que lo sabe todo de nosotros nos conoce hasta el fondo de nuestro corazón. También se nos recuerda nuestra vocación de pro-fetas. Dios tiene un proyecto para cada uno de no-sotros. Como en el caso de Jeremías en la primera lectura. Como Jesús mismo lo demostró en la sina-goga de su pueblo. Y como nos lo explica Pablo anunciando la importancia del amor en nuestra vocación de cristianos. En la actualidad la sociedad sufre de la enfermedad de crisis emocionales, de ten-siones a causa de que la persona no se siente aceptada y cree que nació por casualidad olvidán-dose que alguien nos ha pensado desde la eternidad. Dios no se equivoca, estamos aquí para mejorar y cooperar por un mundo mejor. "Desde antes de formarte en el seno materno, te conozco; desde an-tes de que nacieras, te consagré como profeta para las naciones" (Jer 1, 4). Lo demás es lo de menos hay que ser positivos y personas de esperanza en toda circunstancia. No podemos ignorar ni echar en saco roto la misión que Dios nos confía. En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús nos da ejemplo al reconocerse como profeta y vive y actúa como tal. ¿Eres consciente de la misión que Dios te ha en-comendado? ¿Luchas con esfuerzo verdadero por seguir la vocación que Dios te ha encomendado? Padre o madre de familia, sacerdote, o religioso, hombres y mujeres estamos llamados a llevar la gra-cia del Señor. No seamos como los nazarenos que solo tenían curiosidad y su fe en Jesús andaba muy

4th Sunday in Ordinary Time

"When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury." Why were these folks furi-ous? Because they didn't like what Jesus told them. They took offense at his teaching that "no prophet is accepted in his own native place." Jesus was im-plying that his fellow Nazarenes in the synagogue were blind to who he really was. And this made them mad. They didn't like being told that they were wrong. But Jesus told them anyway. He knew that these people needed to hear the truth, even if it mean that he would be unpopular. In fact, he spoke the truth even at risk of his own life. "They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong." It can be tempting to confuse Jesus' kindness and goodness with passivity, mistakenly imagining him as a person who would never ruffle any feathers because he was so con-cerned about being "nice." This one-sided image of Jesus can lead us to excuse our own passivity about the falsehood and evil that surrounds us. We can justify our silence or inaction by convincing our-selves that we shouldn't upset anyone. But the fact is that Jesus upset people on a regular basis. That was-n't his goal, of course, but he was willing to deal with resistance for the sake of truth and justice. And we should be willing to do the same. Our world is growing more and more hostile to the message of the Gospel. When we simply live our faith authenti-cally, it makes some people angry. But we should not recoil from this reality. Jesus' witness made peo-ple furious too. But when they got mad, he didn't cave in. Whether people like it or not, the truth does not change.
