Dear Parishioners, Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing abortion in 1973, and in
response, the Bishops of the United States have declared January 22 every year as a particular day of
prayer and penance, called the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.” Over 56
million abortions have occurred in the United States since the 1973 decisions of Roe v. Wade and
Doe v. Bolton with heartbreaking magnitude what Pope Francis means by a “throwaway culture.”
However, we have great trust in God’s providence. We are reminded time and again in Scripture to
seek the Lord’s help, and as people of faith, we believe that our prayers are heard. If you or someone
you know has been involved in an abortion and suffers from Post Abortion Stress Syndrome (PASS),
help is nearby. You can contact the St. Maximilian Kolbe Center for Life here in Macon at (478) 257-
4425 or check out their website at: http://www.kolbecentermacon.org. You can also sign up for the
Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat which is a confidential weekend retreat designed to help someone who
suffers from PASS to experience the mercy and compassion of God. For more information about
Rachel’s Vineyard call Stephanie May at 912-306-0406 or visit the website:
www.rachelsvineyard.org. Abortion not only takes the life of an unborn child, but oftentimes takes
the emotional life of the mother as well. Please offer prayers and penance tomorrow for this
intention. God bless you and have a wonderful week.

Lent 2018 We have some very eye-catching dates coming up in our
Church calendar. Ash Wednesday is February 14, and Easter is
April 1. Maybe this is the year to fall in love with Jesus in the
Eucharist, and the year to really become “fools” for Jesus. The
Diocese of Savannah is asking parishes to participate in a
program called Living the Eucharist. It is a time when small
groups meet for Bible study and discussion to further our
understanding of the Mass. It is for adults, youth, and fami-
lies---truly a program for everyone. You will be hearing more
about this and later will have an opportunity to sign up to
participate in six small group meetings. Don’t miss out on this
great opportunity for growing in your faith!
Altar Server Informational Meeting

learn what is expected of Altar Servers and if this is the
ministry for you! If you cannot attend either of these but are
interested in serving, have any questions or need additional
information please contact the Church office at

AED Machines And Medical Pagers
There are two AED machines located in different areas of the
church. One is in the back of the church near the elevator on
the wall over the water fountain; the other one is located in the
Social Hall just inside the double doors near the kitchen.
Our ushers are in need of volunteers to assist in an emergency
should the need arise during Mass. Volunteers are needed to
be in possession of our medical pagers during Mass. If you are
in the medical profession and would like to volunteer for this
important service, please see one of the ushers upon arrival at
the Mass you normally attend. We appreciate your assistance.
Nursery
Our nursery cares for children (newborn to 4 years old) during
the 9:30 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Sunday Masses. In
addition, the nursery is usually open for most of our church
events. (Please refer to the church bulletin.) Families who use
the nursery must fill out an information form prior to a child’s
first attendance. The form is available in the nursery. Contact
