Dear Parishioners, Did you see Easter anywhere? Easter must be around here somewhere, right? I must have misplaced it. How about you? Did you find it in one of your drawers in the kitchen? A storage bin in the garage? Yes, I do make light of a most grave thing. Forgive me. My hope is that all of you sensed the Risen Christ in your souls as you – hopefully – received a Spiritual Communion. Alas, that’s the only kind of communion we can – de jure – receive these days. Fortunately, I received a very good Catholic education in my youth. Even my high school years, almost, but not quite, teetering on the ledge of disaster, were good ones, both in terms of “catechism” and/or theology and history – and these taught by Belgian missionary priests. I remember, Father Cuppins, teaching American history – which he knew very well; far better than today’s democratic hopefuls. One of the units of study was the post WWI president Warren G. Harding, whose main philosophical (very out of fashion today) platform was “Return to Normalcy.” Here are a few “pithy” phrases about this point: “There isnt anything the matter with world civilization, except that humanity is viewing it through a vision impaired in a cataclysmal war. Poise has been disturbed, and nerves have been racked, and fever has rendered men irrational; sometimes there have been draughts upon the dangerous cup of barbarity, and men have wandered far from safe paths, but the human procession still marches in the right direction. “America’s present need is not heroics, but healing; not nostrums, but nor- malcy; not revolution, but restoration; not agitation, but adjustment; not sur- gery, but serenity; not the dramatic, but the dispassionate; not experiment, but equipoise; not submergence in internationality, but sustainment in triumphant nationality.” Yikes! All sorts of “heresies” here – in the opinion of the Party of Death and, alas, not a few higher-ups in the Church! How nationalistic, how anti-global! How ----- thank God almighty for rational thinking. OK, off the soap-box once again. We will continue on bravely with our Live Stream Masses until “better times” are, once again, with us. True, I did not celebrate the Good Friday Solemn Liturgy nor the Easter Vigil. I truly figured, “if you can’t celebrate properly, don’t bother.” Still, we did have the Mass of the Lord’s Supper and the Mass of Easter Sunday. I look forward to “seeing” you at Live Stream Masses, my children and my friends. Dear Parishioners,

Did you see Easter anywhere? Easter must be around here

somewhere, right? I must have misplaced it. How about you?

Did you find it in one of your drawers in the kitchen? A

storage bin in the garage? Yes, I do make light of a most grave thing. Forgive

me. My hope is that all of you sensed the Risen Christ in your souls as you –

hopefully – received a Spiritual Communion. Alas, that’s the only kind of

communion we can – de jure – receive these days.

Fortunately, I received a very good Catholic education in my youth. Even my

high school years, almost, but not quite, teetering on the ledge of disaster, were

good ones, both in terms of “catechism” and/or theology and history – and

these taught by Belgian missionary priests. I remember, Father Cuppins,

teaching American history – which he knew very well; far better than today’s

democratic hopefuls. One of the units of study was the post WWI president

Warren G. Harding, whose main philosophical (very out of fashion today)

platform was “Return to Normalcy.” Here are a few “pithy” phrases about this

point: “There isn’t anything the matter with world civilization, except that

humanity is viewing it through a vision impaired in a cataclysmal war. Poise

has been disturbed, and nerves have been racked, and fever has rendered men

irrational; sometimes there have been draughts upon the dangerous cup of

barbarity, and men have wandered far from safe paths, but the human

procession still marches in the right direction.

“America’s present need is not heroics, but healing; not nostrums, but nor-

malcy; not revolution, but restoration; not agitation, but adjustment; not sur-

gery, but serenity; not the dramatic, but the dispassionate; not experiment, but

equipoise; not submergence in internationality, but sustainment in triumphant

nationality.”

Yikes! All sorts of “heresies” here – in the opinion of the Party of Death and,

alas, not a few higher-ups in the Church! How nationalistic, how anti-global!

How ----- thank God almighty for rational thinking. OK, off the soap-box once

again.

We will continue on bravely with our Live Stream Masses until “better times”

are, once again, with us. True, I did not celebrate the Good Friday Solemn

Liturgy nor the Easter Vigil. I truly figured, “if you can’t celebrate properly,

don’t bother.” Still, we did have the Mass of the Lord’s Supper and the Mass

of Easter Sunday.

I look forward to “seeing” you at Live Stream Masses, my children and my

friends.
