Message from Father Peter Greetings, After meeting with the CTK Board of Education a couple of weeks ago, they asked me to write some more information on the Scott Hahn adult education DVD series that we started in Advent and will now continue in a couple of weeks with Lent beginning in mid-February. This series is a six module series with multiple sessions per module. The six modules are: 1) Laying the Groundwork, 2) Salvation History (A Birds Eye View), 3) Understanding Our One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, 4) A Closer Look at Christ’s Church, 5) The Seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church, 6) Applying Our Faith to Our Families. Scott Hahn is a Catholic biblical scholar, and professor of theology. In this next module, Salvation History (A Birds Eye View), Professor Hahn will guide us through the Old Testament using Covenant language to help us understand how God has established and fathered His family. Professor Hahn begins with the marital covenant that he created with Adam and Eve, the simplest of Family covenants. He then moves to the covenant God established with Noah and his sons following the flood. Professor Hahn calls this covenant a household covenant. As God’s family grows God then establishes a covenant with Abraham as one holy tribe. As God’s family becomes larger and moves into the promised land, Professor Hahn explains how God establishes a covenant with Moses creating one holy nation. The final Old Testament covenant is the Davidic Covenant established with King David moving God’s family into one holy kingdom. These five covenants will prepare us to be welcomed into God’s family through the new and eternal covenant established by Jesus. If you happened to have missed the introductory Module I offered in Advent, I would invite you to come and experience this next Module II this coming Lent. We will begin on February 10th and following. It is so important that we continue to learn about our faith. Over the last few weeks I have been previewing this next module and taking notes. If you are interested in attending, please let the parish office know so that we can copy the study guide and notes. I must say, watching these DVDs has been a good experience for me, and I have heard lots of positive feedback from those who attended the introductory series. May God bless you as you continue to grow in your faith. ~Blessings, Fr. Peter January 27, 2013 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH OF BROWERVILLE 720 Main Street North P.O.
