PRAYER REQUESTS Let us remember those who are ill: Debra Emolo.

Let us remember all our loved ones who have died.

Let us remember those serving in the military.

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2

Do you put God first in all things? Possessions, money, power, ego can easily become gods to many

of us. Do a quick check of what is important to you. Is God at the very top of the list? If not, your priorities need to be re-adjusted. Don’t let earthly things become your god.

The Sunday Collection amount for the week of April 13 will be reported at a later date due to an early printing deadline for this issue of the bulletin.

SAINT JOSEPH PARISH CAN BENEFIT TOO! We are grateful to those who have already donated to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Their generosity is helping us to meet our parish goal of $64,000. If we exceed our goal, our parish will receive a rebate. It is not too late to make your pledge. Simply put your gift in your own envelope, memo it “Archbishop’s Annual Appeal” and place it in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish office/rectory. Thank you!

JOIN IN THE CELEBRATION OF TWO NEW SAINTS

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

YOUR EASTER OFFERING Please be generous in making your Easter donation. We greatly depend on this collection to meet our larger operating expenses. Your generosity and involvement help to make Saint Joseph the wonderful parish it is!

T.A.R.G.E.T. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP —SUNDAY, MAY 4 at 12:30 pm

LOWER CHURCH Students in grades 9 through 12 are cordially invited to attend the grand reopening of our regular T.A.R.G.E.T. Youth Group meetings at Saint Joseph Parish. T.A.R.G.E.T., which stands for “Teen, Activities, Religious, Group, Entertaining and Terrific,” is an active program for high school-aged students that combines spiritual, social and service activities, led by peers and assisted by adult volunteers.

Join Father Andrew at the 12:30 pm Mass in Mary’s Chapel on Sunday, May 4, and then gather at the Parish Life Center immediately afterward for our first meeting. Refreshments will be served.

It doesn’t matter what high school you attend. Come and be a part of this great youth program.

As artists leave traces of themselves in their works, God leaves signs of himself in his

creation. In our part of the world, spring itself seems to proclaim Easter, when we rejoice in the magnificent freshness and vitality of the life only God can give. A joyful Easter carol of the 16th Century says:

All the world has come alive. All the earth is budding. Bees are humming round the hive, Done with winter’s brooding. Snow and frost have been undone. Winds are soft and tender. High above the regal sun Shines in all its splendor!

This our joy and this our feast, This our great surprising; Young and old and best and least See their own arising. We, the newborn patterns are Of our God and Maker: Christ, our spring beyond compare! Christ, our good creator!

Easter is our supreme festival of rejoicing. It reminds us that God gathers all his people to himself by joining them to Jesus Christ. St. Paul calls Christ our “Passover” (1 Cor 5, 7), our means of liberation from the dominion of sin and death. Ever since our baptism, we have been merged with Christ’s life. The result of this union is delightfully exclaimed in St. Paul’s assertion that “it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Gal 2, 20). Mystically taken up into the death and resurrection of Jesus, we have become what Paul calls “a new creation” (2 Cor 5, 17). The life of Christ that we share summons us to God’s ways of goodness and generous love. By living in this way, something that can only happen with the Lord’s continual assistance, we take the path to peace and meaning in this life, and come at last to endless life with God in his own dwelling place, which is also our true home. St. Ambrose, who lived in the 4th Century, left us some wonderful hymns. In one of them he exulted:

The Father sends His Son, our Lord To be His bright and shining Word; Come, Lord, ride out Your gleaming course And be our dawn, our light’s true source.

Happy Easter to you all!

SAINT JOSEPH SCHOOL Awarded the

National Blue Ribbon

Early Childhood (ages 3-4) Kindergarten to Grade 8

It was very early in the morning on Sunday. The tomb stone was rolled away. Jesus was gone. All that was left inside were strips of linen cloth. When John and Peter saw it, they were amazed. They did not understand all the promises the prophets wrote about Jesus yet. However, they knew he was alive. He had risen from the dead!

Saint Joseph School sixth graders had an “out-of-this-world” experience at the Buehler Challenger and Science Center when they used teamwork and imagination to solve real problems in a space station simulator.
