The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated after a period of preparation of no less than six months. Those who wish to marry at St. Joseph’s are invited to contact one of the priests during regular weekday office hours before making any other arrangements. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated, on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30pm. Please call the Parish Office to schedule an appointment with one of the priests. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available at any time to any Catholic over the age of reason who is seriously ill, preparing for surgery or suffering the effects of age. The priests of the parish regularly celebrate the Eucharist and administer the sacrament of the sick at the area nursing homes; lay ministers lead services and bring communion to the residents every Sunday.

O blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of thy chaste spouse, the virgin Mother of God, I choose thee this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor thee all the days of my life. Therefore I humbly beseech thee to receive me as thy client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen

St. Joseph Summer Blood Drive My fellow parishioners, it is that time of year again. Our annual summer blood drive takes place Tues-day, July 2nd from 2-8 PM in the Parish Center. This is a particularly difficult time for blood donations because of the holiday, all the vacations and travel.
We will be signing up donors in the Narthex after Masses on June 29-30. As always, we welcome walk-ins so if you are unsure when you will be able to donate on July 2nd or can’t sign up the weekend before, please feel free to come and donate when convenient.
Our parish has saved countless lives over the years through your generosity, and this summer, with the need greater than ever, we hope you will continue this spirit of generosity. If you have any questions, please contact Dan Sudlik at (914) 276-3125 or at [email protected] and we will try to answer them. As always, God bless you for your generosity and we wish you a most wonderful Independence Day.
The Parish Office will be closed Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th in observance of Inde-pendence Day. The Office will reopen Monday, July 8th at 9:00am. There will be a priest on duty in the event of an emergency. Have a safe holiday!
Welcome to Saint Joseph’s Church Thank you for joining with us as we celebrate the Eucharist. We are happy that you gather with us to-day, especially if you are visiting. Our prayer is that you will find the nourishment for your faith in this beautiful house of God.

DRESS IN CHURCH
In the book of Ecclesiastes it is written in the third chapter, “There is an appropriate time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens. A time to be silent and a time to speak”. In other words everything has an appro-priate place. I would add a time to dress up and a time to dress down. We come now into the summer season, the season of flip-flops, short-shorts, tank tops and anything else that lets in the sun and cool breezes. The season also brings the dilemma of what is appropriate dress. Are shorts appropriate at a wedding reception, or job interview? Is wearing a suit and tie to the beach called for? Do we wear a dress or pants with shoes to bed and pajamas to the supermarket? I ask you to consider what you wear to worship your Creator. Is he important enough to dress up for? Oh, yes it is true that God loves us just the way we are. Saint Paul writes that because of his relationship with Jesus, he is free to do any-thing, but qualifies that freedom, with his obliga-tion not to offend or bring harm to others. The question I ask is, how much do we respect the love our Creator has for us: and are we willing to witness to others that respect, by our dress and behavior. There is a time for everything.

Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament is not something that is new. It is a Catholic practice which is centuries-old. The practice affirms the central teaching of the Catholic Church with regard to the Holy Eucha-rist- Jesus Christ is truly-substantially present in the Holy Eucharist. In about the 4th century monasteries began to reserve the Eucharist and by the 11th century the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament- mainly for the sick and dying was reserved in our Catholic Church’s. At this time Eucha-ristic Devotion became popular. Out of this came Adoration and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Adoration until this day keeps us connected to the community’s celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist. We have had the practice of Adoration and Benediction for many years here at St. Joseph’s. While this prac-tice has proven to be an important part of our devotion, we would like to see more people participate in this most beautiful devotion.
Attached is a signup sheet for people not already on the schedule to make a commitment to a particular time each First and Third Thursdays, September through June. As you know, Holy Thursday is the day that Jesus gave us the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper. So it is very appropriate for us to adore our Eucharistic Lord on this day. You can sign up for a specific time and make that commitment each month. We would like to have at least 4 people signed up for each of the times so that if someone cannot fulfill their commitment because of illness or something else we still have enough people for each hour. Of course, if you do not sign up for a particular time you are most welcome to come for a visit at any time.
First & Third Thursdays- September through June- (except for holy days etc.)
9:30am - 4:00pm (concludes with Benediction)
