THIS SUMMER YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE THE GIFT OF

LIFE

Please consider donating the gift of life at our an-nual mid-summer Blood Drive which will be held on Thursday, July 9th from 2 PM to 8 PM in the school auditorium. During the summer, with all the vacation travel and fun things for the family to do, blood donations slow but blood needs in-crease, so once you have finished with your July 4th celebrations consider a donation. If you are between 16 and 75 and in good health, you are able to donate, so please mark your calendar and help save a life. If you have passed your 76th birthday you can still donate with a note from your doctor letting us know you are healthy enough to give blood. If you are 16 we need parent’s approval. We absolutely welcome walk-ins.

From the Desk of Fr. Lagiovane The U.S. bishops’ third annual Fortnight for Freedom- a period of prayer and fasting to raise awareness of challenges to religious liberty, both nationally and internationally-is planned for June 21 to July 4. At the end of each Prayer of the Faithful on Sunday and daily Mass during the Fortnight For Freedom, we will recite the following Prayer For Religious Liberty:

Prayer For Religious Liberty Almighty God, Father of all nations, the foundation of human rights, justice and the common good. Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties; by your grace may we have the

courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land. We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate,

Our patroness, and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, In the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever, Amen.

We hold in our hearts and prayers our loved ones in the military service

MUSIC MINISTRIES OF SAINT JOSEPH CHURCH

Congratulations and thank you …To all who attended and supported last week’s Twiggy and the Styxx Spring Evening of Jazz held in our parish center. To Ms. Valerie Garafalo, our parish hospitality coordinator, for organizing the delicious fare of deli heroes, so generously supplied by Froggy’s Deli. Our thanks and appreciation goes out as well to all the sponsors and benefactors of our parish’s first annual concert series. We look forward to seeing you next year at our 2015-2016 Concerts at Saint Joseph’s. Have a wonderful summer!

MARY’S GARDEN UPDATE

Many parishioners have contacted us regarding memorializing a brick to be installed in the new outdoor shrine of Mary. During the Capital Campaign many donated $1,500 but did not select a specific memorial. This is an opportune time to do so. Please contact me in the parish office to make the appropriate arrangements. If you were not previously able to make a pledge to the Building Fund or if you are a newcomer to the parish, this is a great opportunity to be part of the building of our new church. We will begin construction in July, so please get in touch as soon as possible. As always, thanks for your continued enthusiasm and support. Richard Casterella [email protected] / 914-232-2910
