Convert and Follow Me After spending many years in Nazareth hiding with his family, after spending forty days in the desert and being baptized by John, Jesus had clear ideas about his mission. His life would be dedicated to proclaim the good news of salvation. The message to be communicated was concise and concrete: "The deadline has been fulfilled, the Kingdom of God is near: Convert and believe in the Gospel". We would almost say that a professional from the world of current advertising intervened in its formulation. Jesus tells his people that the time of waiting is over. There is something new that is here, that comes to us. His coming does not depend on our effort but on the will of God. He has been the one who has broken the deadlines and has appeared in the middle of our world. Without warning. Without asking for permission. It is up to us to welcome that Kingdom that has been presented to us. The final words of Jesus conveniently are inviting us to conversion and faith.
