If there are multiple people in the car, the passenger/s may exit and stand at a safe distance and we will come to them after hearing the driver’s confession. WATCH MASS FROM HOME

Happy Father’s Day! May all of you whom we call “dad” be especially blessed this day knowing that you cooperated in bringing life into the world and as you

nourished your children with your love may you, in return, be nourished by theirs.

In the Gospel today, Jesus does not mince words. He is preparing his disciples for the “real world” experience and the opposition they will encounter along the way as they are sent out as sheep among wolves. He invites his disciples to be “in the world” but not “of the world.”

Of course, we can all give in to temptation along the way. We can live attached or unattached knowing that our true home is elsewhere. Jesus accompanies each one of us in our journey, prodding us to be gracious in receiving and giving in all that we do.

Let us continue this journey, having faced, and continuing to face hardship in life and faith these past months, slumping in the loving arms of a God who is Our Father in heaven.

“When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry.”—William Shakespeare

Reading 2Rom 5:12–15

Brothers and sisters: Through one man sin entered the world, and through sin, death, and thus death came to all men, inasmuch as all sinned—for up to the time of the law, sin was in the world, though sin is not accounted when there is no law. But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin after the pattern of the trespass of Adam, who is the type of the one who was to come.

But the gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ overflow for the many.Response: Thanks be to God

GospelMt 10:26–33

Jesus said to the Twelve: “Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.”Response: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

Sunday ReadingsTwelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reading 1Jer 20:10–13

Jeremiah said: “I hear the whisperings of many:‘Terror on every side! Denounce! let us denounce him!’All those who were my friends are on the watch for any misstep of mine.

‘Perhaps he will be trapped; then we can prevail, and take our vengeance on him.’ But the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion: my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph.

In their failure they will be put to utter shame, to lasting, unforgettable confusion. O LORD of hosts, you who test the just, who probe mind and heart, let me witness the vengeance you take on them, for to you I have entrusted my cause. Sing to the LORD, praise the LORD, for he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!”Response: Thanks be to God

Responsorial PsalmPs 69:8–10, 14, 17, 33–35Response: (14c) Lord, in your great love, answer me.

For your sake I bear insult, and shame covers my face.I have become an outcast to my brothers,a stranger to my children,Because zeal for your house consumes me,and the insults of those who blaspheme you fall upon me.Response: Lord, in your great love, answer me.

I pray to you, O LORD,for the time of your favor, O God!In your great kindness answer mewith your constant help.Answer me, O LORD, for bounteous is your kindness;in your great mercy turn toward me.Response: Lord, in your great love, answer me.

“See, you lowly ones, and be glad;you who seek God, may your hearts revive! For the LORD hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds he spurns not.Let the heavens and the earth praise him,the seas and whatever moves in them!”Response: Lord, in your great love, answer me.

Read-aloud book stories to stretch your relationship with your childrenSummer is a good time to instill or develop reading habits in your children. Books are a good source to learn about new things in life and as you read together with your children it can help to strengthen your relationship with them and learn about their emotions or concerns, especially during this time of COVID-19.

“Worries, fears, and anxieties are all dragons that sneak up on most of us at one time or another,” says the introduction to the book “You’ve got dragons,” authored by Kathryn Cave. “It is the perfect read-aloud story for young children whose fears can sometimes get the better of them.” Among books recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA) are: “A feel better book for little worriers,” and “My wandering dreaming mind.” For more information of the APA’s Magination Press Story Time, visit https://www.facebook.com/MaginationPressAPA/.

• During Mass, we will not have a physical sign of peace. Singing will not take place and missalettes or songbooks will not be available in the pews for surface safety.

• The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is extended indefinitely. People who are 65 or older, have a weakened immune system, or have a chronic medical condition are encouraged to stay home, especially since we are experiencing a spike in virus infections. If you are sick, you MUST remain at home. Please do not place yourself or others in danger of illness and death.

Important Reminders

As we continue to evaluate our current situation, we will re-evaluate all procedures and schedules and adapt to what current safety protocols or Archdiocesan directives are in place.
