United by the Body of Christ
A few weeks back, I wrote about our gradual return to public life amidst the pandemic was not, “going
back” to the way things were, rather we have the oppor-tunity to embrace the “new beginnings” in spite of all the challenges. One of those new beginnings is the op-portunity to return to public Mass, with appropriate pre-cautions to lovingly protect one another. As we cele-brate this week the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), we mark two more new begin-nings in our collaborative parishes: the initiation of six adults as Catholics, and the beginning of a special Year of the Eucharist in our archdiocese.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process that prepares adults to become ful-ly initiated Catholics. This is a powerful process not only for them but for our whole Catholic community which supports them in prayer and rejoices in their faith and desire to be full members with us! The high point of the process usually takes place at the Easter Vigil when they receive the Sacraments of Initiation, but this is preceded by months of spiritual preparation and fol-lowed by a period when these neophytes reflect on the sacraments received and get actively involved in the faith community. This year, although these sacraments were delayed by the pandemic, we are blessed with six adults who have patiently waited with eagerness until this Sunday. The RCIA is fundamentally for unbaptized adults (“catechumens”) to receive Baptism, Confirma-tion, and Eucharist, which we are celebrating this Sun-day with Kelly Connery and Michelle Shaughnessy. This can also be adapted for those baptized in other Christian communities to respect the fact they are al-ready incorporated into the Body of Christ. These “candidates” for reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church include Linda Sansoucy, Beth Tezber, and Terri Pucillo, who make a profession of faith and then receive Confirmation and Eucharist. Fi-nally, adults who were baptized Catholic but did not proceed with the other sacraments of initiation can also participate in aspects of the RCIA to receive Confirma-tion with First Eucharist, as Brittany Chan is doing this year. Congratulations and welcome to all of these wonderful new members of our Catholic Church and our parishes! Anyone curious about the RCIA can speak with a priest, deacon or staff in the parish office.
It is fitting that these adults receive the Eucha-rist for the first time on the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ this year, especially since it marks the begin-ning of a special “Year of the Eucharist” declared by Cardinal Seán for the people of the Archdiocese of Boston!

Some Things to Consider Before Coming Back to Mass
Please pre-register to attend Mass. Register on our website or call the office during regu-lar hours. Masks must be worn. Children be-tween ages of 2 and 5, the wearing of a face covering is at the discretion of the parents.
Please check our website or call the parish office for the Mass schedule each week.
Arrive early wearing your mask and hand sanitizer if you have any. Please be flexible as we start this new chapter at our parishes.
On June 21 the second collection is for Promoting the Gospel. This includes Communications and for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). The CCHD is dedicated to breaking the cy-cle of poverty by funding community programs that encourage independence. Your generous donations will give those in poverty the support they need to make lasting changes.
Standing Against Racism Cardinal Seán recently wrote a letter to all people of our archdiocese about how our Catholic faith calls us to work against all forms of racism, in-cluding more subtle and systemic forms. Catholic social teaching challenges us to build a society that respects every human life as a gift from God and equal in dignity. This is why I attended and spoke at a recent local rally. Please take the time to visit pwc.church and read or watch the video of the Cardinal’s letter to you and me. - Fr. Joe

Wrentham Knights of Columbus Grocery Pickup/Delivery Service
The Wrentham Knights of Columbus is pleased to announce the Grocery pickup service for sen-iors and parishioners in the Wrentham and Plainville communities during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
• The Knights of Columbus will pick up your groceries and deliver safely to your door step. • Save 10% on your groceries using a Special discount code. • There is no additional cost for the delivery service, as the Knights are providing this charitable
service to the seniors and parishioners in need.
There are three Easy Steps to the Grocery Delivery Service:
1. Setup a PeaPod Account. 2. Order your Groceries. 3. Contact the Knights of Columbus to arrange delivery during the following times: Saturday, 9am - 12pm and Sunday,
4pm - 7pm.
Overall Process:
1. Parishioners, seniors and their families are requested to set up an account through Peapod for Stop & Shop at Milford. The Knights would help set up the account for seniors who are unable to do so by themselves.
2. After placing the orders, the parishioners, seniors and their families send an email to the Knights at [email protected] with the day and time of pickup, their phone number, and their address so that the groceries can be picked up and delivered.
3. Please contact Kelly Williams ([email protected], 508-361-0209) or Mark DeLorenzo ([email protected], 201-819-0931) if any parishioner or senior needs help in placing their orders.
To set up a PeaPod Account, please see our website for more information.
We are pleased to announce that a new set of videos are available to you and your children on both Parish FaceBook pages, as well as on our Collabo-rative Website, pwc.church. A very special thanks to Mrs. Stacy Mastrogiacomo, a Plainville mom and teacher, who is producing these videos for us. We have available right now for viewing: The Story of Creation and Adam and Eve. What a great way to introduce your children to the Bible!
Fr. Joe's column continues… It will be a year in which we are all invited to grow in our understanding and appreciation of the great gift of the Eucharist, and our privilege of participating in it. While not part of the Cardinal’s plan, we ended up having an extended “fast” from the Eucharist because of the pan-demic, which for many people led to a great longing to return to receiving Christ in Communion. The fact that Catholics had to wait so long - and the preparation of adults and children for their first Communion took even longer than planned - reminds us that this is a gift and privilege we should not take for granted. In the coming year, we will be promoting opportunities for learning, reflection, prayer and celebration of the gift of the Eucha-rist. These will be offered in our collaborative, other par-ishes in our area, and in archdiocese-wide events. The plan is for the Year of the Eucharist (YoE) to culminate in a major celebration next spring on the weekend of Corpus Christi. More information on YoE is available at bostoncatholic.org/yearoftheeucharist and in future bulle-tins.
I am grateful for every one of you as members of the Body of Christ in our communities!
For St. Mary Prayer Garden
Here is a wonderful idea for Father's Day! Remember your husband, father, grandfather, family or a loved one, or honor someone special in your life with an en-graved brick in front of the outside statue of the Blessed Mother. In June we will place another order for new bricks to replace some of the blank ones, and for a donation of $250.00 you can have your commit-ment to St. Mary Parish remembered for years to come. For your convenience, call St. Mary's office for an order form.
Lenten Rice Bowls
If you still have a Lenten Rice Bowl at home, you can return it to the collection basket at Mass or call St. Mary office for times to be able to drop it off at the office.
