Welcome home for Christmas! We warmly welcome all who come to celebrate the glorious feast of Christmas – the stranger, the travelers, the guests, our students home from college, former parishioners, old friends, and our faithful parishioners – welcome all! SOME STEWARDSHIP THOUGHTS: The first reading today provides a challenging guideline for the good stewardship of our family relationships. How do I measure up? When we think of the word “family” we might look at the Holy Family and think that they are not like us. However, a closer look at their lives reveals a different story. This family is not only a model of holiness, it is also a model for all families who suffer. We seek their intercession for our families that we, too, may endure with grace the difficulties of life. We may be confident when we look to them for understanding and support. On January 1 we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. On this day the Church celebrates the motherhood of the Virgin Mary. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us, that we, too, may respond with love when God calls. LIVING STEWARDSHIP: We are grateful this week for all stewards who recognize their relationships with family, friends, and co-workers are now different because they have been influenced by a spirit of generosity and sharing through embracing Stewardship as Our Way of Life. CELEBRATING OUR GIFTEDNESS: We celebrate the gifts of music, time, and service shared with us by our ADULT AND CHILDREN’S CHOIRS who add so much beauty to our liturgies, especially during this Christmas season. Please see Peter Schubart after the 9AM or 10:30 AM Masses to join or for more information.

Thank you for sharing your

gifts of treasure.

Our generous God has given us the greatest gift in our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Let us pray this Christmas and always to be the hands of Christ in a world in need of love, peace, and justice. Amen.

CEPU (Comprehensive Emergency Program for Unemployed) maintains a database of personnel seeking employment in the Long Island market, as well as a database of available employment opportunities. We provide counseling services, including resume preparation and development, in addition to job search capabilities. Our job database covers the full range of posi-tions from office work, sales help, factory work, food handling, and home care. At the present time, the Employment Ministry has a considerable number of clients (prospective employees) interested in providing Companion/Caretaker services to the Elderly. Availability of hours, skills, background/training vary widely. Contact our office for further information. Ask for Frank, Kathy, or Rosemarie. We’re staffed by volunteer case workers. Abortion, rape, child abuse - what do these have in common? They are all perpetrated in obscurity. If the public were allowed to see an abortion, the atrocity would be stopped immediately. We must shed the light on the truth of this violence against the unborn. Abortion is an act of terror that kills an innocent human being one life at a time. Please continue to pray to end abortion.

To continue in Pro-Life work, we need each other. We need support, prayers, and encour-agement. Join our Respect Life group, come to meetings when you can, let us support each other in this war against the unborn..

St. Martin of Tours Respect for Life Committee will meet on Thursday, January 3rd at 4:00Pm in the Genesis Room. Our committee wish all a Blessed New Year.

On Friday, January 18th, 2019, the St. Martin’s Respect For Life Committee will be journeying to Washington D.C., for the Annual March For Life. A bus will be leaving O.L.P.H. in Lindenhurst at 6:00AM. You are encouraged to join the march and be a voice for the voice-less. For more information and reservations, please call Anne at 631-598-2037

What a wonderful time we had at Old Westbury Gardens! We enjoyed tea and a scone that was absolutely delicious in the Old Westbury mansion. Then we had a guided tour of the beautiful mansion adorned in Christmas decorations for the holiday. As I told my group, I would love to have the formal dining room there. It is so tremendous that I could fit everyone for Christmas eve dinner and have lots of room to spare! So many of the fine furniture are original pieces and even the wallpaper is original and was painted by an artist. It is definitely a gorgeous home.

Thank you all who contributed socks to the Outreach program. We collected quite a few pairs. If you were unable to make our trip and have socks to give, please bring them to Outreach. Thank you.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and I would like to wish all of you a happy and healthy new year. Enjoy your families and we will meet up again in 2019.

Please save your next blood donation for our parish drive, which will be on Wednesday, January 16th from 4:15PM to 10:15PM. Call Mary at 631-691-5881 for an appointment or for more information.
