Dear Friends,
On June 29th, the Catholic Parishes of Newington (Saint Mary Church and Holy Spirit Church)
were united into one parish named Annunciation Parish. Canonically we are a new parish. The
church buildings however, will keep their respective titles: Saint Mary Church and Holy Spirit
Church.
There is also a civil part of this process, that will enable us to do business as Annunciation
Parish. This will take a little bit longer. Until we are fully incorporated, please continue to make
your contributions/checks out to either Saint Mary Church or Holy Spirit Church. Once the
new corporation has been established, I will notify you.
Over the years, we have tried to keep the offerings for funerals as low as possible. Periodically, we
had raised our fees to meet our expenses. With increasing costs of utilities, fuel, and the services
of musicians, we find that we must make adjustments to our offerings. Therefore, as of
October 1st, 2017, the offering for a Funeral Mass at both churches will be $500.
Sincerely,
Reverend Shawn T. Daly, Pastor

What is Spiritual Direction
The primary purpose of Spiritual Direction is to grow in a personal relationship with God through
coming to notice and savor the moments of the Holy Spirit in everyday life, prayer, and
relationships. Spiritual Direction is concerned with a person’s life experiences and how these lead
to or from prayer in the light of the gospel. The director is always the Holy Spirit, but a good
spiritual director can help a person discover patterns and rhythms in their lives and how these
lead to a deeper relationship with God and to more freedom with others. The interpretation of
one’s experiences come from God through prayer, so the aim of Spiritual Direction is always for the
living out of a love relationship with God, self and others.
Do you desire a closer relationship with God, and with one another?
Do you desire to find God and meaning in your life’s ordinary experience?
Do you desire to deepen your prayer experience?
A Spiritual Director will journey with you as you attempt to follow God’s lead into the closer
relationship you desire. If you think you would like to walk this life’s faith journey towards
closeness with God through monthly one hour sessions of Spiritual Direction, please call
Sister Mary at (860) 956-9247 or (860) 558-0372.
Sister Mary Bello, CSJ, a graduate from the Spiritual Direction Program at Mercy Center in
Madison, CT, and is experienced in the ministry of Spiritual Direction
