LITURGY OF THE WORD READING I GENESIS 11:1-9
The whole world had the same language and the same words. When they were migrating from the east, they came to a valley in the land of Shinar* and settled there. They said to one another, “Come, let us mold bricks and harden them with fire.” They used bricks for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky,* and so make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered all over the earth.” The LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the people had built. Then the LORD said: If now, while they are one people and all have the same language, they have started to do this, nothing they presume to do will be out of their reach. Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that no one will understand the speech of another. So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel,* because there the LORD confused the speech of all the world. From there the LORD scattered them over all the earth.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PSALM 104: 1, 24, 29-30. 31, 34
LORD SEND OUT YOUR SPIRIT, AND RENEW THE FACE OF THE EARTH. READING II 2 ACTS: 1-11
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,* which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues,* as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.”
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION GOSPEL JOHN 20:19-23
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.

The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

AGNUS DEI ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee
above all things and I desire Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though thou wert already
there, I embrace Thee and unite myself wholly to Thee; permit not that I should ever
be separated from Thee.
