Faith & Family Formation

~B O W ~ Suggested text for faith sharing: Today’s Gospel

22 S O T W S 3, 2017

T : The cross is a way that leads to true life.

S O : L W When you hear the Gospel proclaimed today, what words or phrases really strike you? What lingers in your memory from this reading?

Q C : Jesus tells us that we each called to follow him. What is hard for you to do to follow Jesus?

Q Y : In order to follow Jesus, we have to do hard things, to carry our own crosses. What is a cross that you are carrying right now? In what ways can you ask Jesus to help you with your cross?

Q A : Jesus gives us the core truth to life and eternal happiness — the cross. Name the cross that you carry. How is it bringing you closer to God?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is meant for those who: - have never been baptized but are curious about Christ and all He taught; - have been baptized in other Christian traditions, but have an interest in Catholics and the Catholic Church; - are already baptized Catholic but have never received Eucharist and/or Confirmation. These are the people the Rite of Christian Initiation seeks to reach and to serve. We are accepting enrollment for the 2017-18 session. The session starts in the Fall and candidates receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil in March. Perhaps you know someone who may have questions about the faith, the process of RCIA, or a desire to be received into the Church. Think about it, pray about it, and offer an invitation. Anyone interested is asked to contact Andrea Henry, RCIA Coordinator at [email protected] or call 973-714-6844.

It’s a Matter of Life or Death

“The sufferings caused by chronic or terminal illness … cry out for our compassion, a word whose root meaning is to ‘suffer with’ another person. True compassion alleviates suffering while maintaining solidarity with those who suffer. It does not put lethal drugs in their hands and abandon them.”
