FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS As I write this column on Monday morning, it is a
wintry mix of rain and ice and a little snow outside, a
reminder that we are indeed in the midst of winter. The
news media continues to remind us of the brokenness of
our world.
More and more details are emerging about the horrific
school shooting in Connecticut and as faces of all the
victims are made public, the tragedy becomes more and
more real.
Doesn’t it always seem that tragedies happen during the
Christmas season? Whether it is house fires or highway
fatalities or the ever increasing mass shootings,
Christmas is tinged each year with the sadness of
losses.
As someone said “It puts everything else into
perspective and we realize how insignificant most of
our own worries are”. It certainly puts Christmas in
perspective as well.
For when we come face to face with how fragile life
can be, we realize more than ever how much we do
need a Savior – One to shatter that darkness and
brokenness and to bring us hope; a Savior to bring
meaning in the midst of turmoil, promise in the midst of
doubt and fear.
There is therefore an important reason we celebrate
Christmas so flamboyantly. May the meaning of
Christ’s birth permeate all our celebrations these days
and may we all embrace the Newborn King when He
comes our way.

lembrar do quebrantamento do nosso mundo.
THANK YOU NOTE
Our Father’s Table wants to thank our parishioners for
donating the basic needs to the less fortunate (socks,
hats, gloves, etc.). Our guests are warmer this winter

ARTS AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE
Twas the night before Christmas
and all through St. Mikes

While needing some help, we
called on St Mikes with a great yelp!
"Calling all Crafters!" John did explain;
"We need you for Christmas,
for its coming again!"
Here are some dates we hope you can make, just a little
of your time and don't be late!
*Sunday, December 23rd at 2:00pm
preparing decorations for the Church.
*Monday, December 24th from 9:30am to 2:00pm.
Placement of Christmas decor in the Church.
CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF
AMERICA MEETING The next meeting for the Catholic Daughters of
America will be on Thursday, January 3rd, at 12:00pm
in the parish center meeting room. All women are
invited to attend.
CLERGY BENEFIT TRUST CAMPAIGN The Christmas collection is the diocesan wide
collection for our priests. The more than 645 active and
senior priests in our Archdiocese are the reason we are
able to celebrate the sacrament of the Eucharist today
and every day. Without them, we could not fully live
our Catholic faith. Remember the priests who have
made a meaningful impact in your life. Please consider
honoring these priests through this Christmas collection
by giving them a gift this Christmas that expresses your
care. Thank you in advance for your generous and
prayerful support of our diocesan priests.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION REMINDER
There will be NO Eucharistic Adoration this Monday,
December 24th (Christmas Eve) and next Monday,
December 31st (New Year’s Eve) due to Christmas and
New Year’s Holidays.
Adoration will resume on Monday, January 7th.
