Pope Tweets
@Pontifex
The Church is called to walk with Jesus on the roads
of the world, in order to meet the humanity of today.
September 15, 2016
The concrete sign that we have truly encountered
Jesus is the joy that we show in
communicating it to others.

From the Pastoral Associate
I love the excitement a new school year brings. From the perspective of September
there is always something new or “new again” to look forward to. Parish life, especially
because we are blessed with having a parish school, can take on the school calendar feel. On
the parish level, we begin a new religious education year, family Mass returns, groups on
hiatus from summer resume meeting again and in our pews are some folks new to the area
and to our parish. Each year I also have the privilege of being a part of the RCIA group. This group will come
together for the first time next week. Individuals in the RCIA are seeking to be baptized into the Catholic
Church or are seeking to be received into the Church from another faith tradition. Each individual is on a
unique journey of faith and for a short amount of time, we are joined to journey together to discover the ways
in which God calls us each anew. As a parish community let us hold this new beginning of this group in
prayer and continue to provide an environment where we can all be nourished – wherever we are on our
journey of faith.
How to Read the Bible
Sundays, Sep 25 & Oct 2, 10:15 a.m., Parish Ctr
Join Deacon Tim O’Donnell for presentations and
discussion about how to approach this unique
collection of writings that is the foundation of our
faith. In the course of the two sessions, we will look
at what kind of writings these are, how the collection
was formed, what it means to say that the Bible is
God’s Word, and how we can approach reading these
texts in liturgy, prayer and study. All are welcome,
no special knowledge of the Bible is assumed.
Scripture Study
The Gospel According to John
Wednesdays, Beginning October 26, 7-8:30 p.m.
Join us this year as we study The Gospel According
to John and the Johannine Letters. The study will be
split into two segments. The first part of the Gospel
will be covered in 7 weeks in late Fall/Advent and
the last 8 weeks will occur in Winter/Lent. No
previous scripture study experience is needed – all
are truly welcome. We will use materials from the
Little Rock Scripture Study program (a reader and a
study guide) and a Bible. There is a reading
assignment and reflection questions each week. We
will spend our time together discussing Scripture, the
discussion questions and listening to an audio
lecture. The study will meet on Wednesdays, 7-8:30
p.m. in the Parish Center on October 26, November
9, 16 & 30, December 7, 14 & 21. If you are
interested and would like to register or if you have
any questions, please contact Anna Molettieri
at [email protected] or at
617-547-4235 x17.
