Thank you to those who are financially supporting us during the pandemic. We are praying for all our families, especially those facing financial stress.

The practice of tithing provides a regular remind-er of your dependence on God. In good times, tithing helps you remember that God is the source of all blessings, and it allows you to demonstrate your gratitude for His care. In hard times, tithing motivates you to remember God’s faithfulness and enables you to demonstrate trust in God to provide for all of our needs.

    26th Sunday in Ordinary Time September 26 & 27, 2020

First Reading Ezekiel18: 25 - 28 Thus says the LORD: You say, "The LORD's way is not fair!" Hear now, house of Israel: Is it my way that is un-fair, or rather, are not your ways unfair? When some-one virtuous turns away from virtue to commit iniquity, and dies, it is because of the iniquity he committed that he must die. But if he turns from the wickedness he has committed, he does what is right and just, he shall preserve his life; since he has turned away from all the sins that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

Responsorial: Psalm 25 R. Remember your mercies, O Lord.

Second Reading Philippians 2: 1 - 11 Brothers and sisters: If there is any encouragement in Christ, any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and mercy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart, thinking one thing. Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each look-ing out not for his own interests, but also for those of others. Have in you the same attitude that is also in Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found hu-man in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and be-stowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Gospel Matthew 21: 28 - 32 Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: "What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, 'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.' He said in reply, 'I will not,' but after-wards changed his mind and went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, 'Yes, sir,’ but did not go. Which of the two did his father's will?" They answered, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prosti-tutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prosti-tutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not lat-er change your minds and believe him."

    Give Me Strength, Lord

Lord, you are Holy above all others, and all of the strength that I need is in your hands. I am not asking,

Lord, that you take this trial away. Instead, I simply ask that Your will be done in my life. Whatever that means,

that is what I want. But I admit that it's hard, Lord.

Sometimes I feel like I can't go on. The pain and the fear are too much for me, and I know that I don't have the

strength on my own to get through this. I know that I can come to you, Jesus, and that you will hear my prayer. I know that it is not your intent to bring me to this point

just to leave me in the wilderness alone.

Please, Lord, give me the strength that I need to face today. I don't have to worry about tomorrow. If you just give me the strength that I need today that is all I need. Keep me from sinning during this trial. Instead, help me

to keep my eyes on you. You are the Holy Lord, and all of my hope rests in you. Thank you for hearing my

prayer. In Jesus' name. Amen catholic.org

Good Works: We are St. Peter Parish vol-unteers who join many other local Christian church groups in performing home repairs. We reach out in love and friendship to trans-

form substandard houses into warmer, safer, and drier homes, and by doing so, turn despair into hope. The team welcomes new volunteers of all skill levels. For more infor-mation or to be a part of Good Works, contact Jim at 610-496-1393 or [email protected].

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Do you know someone who is suffering, struggling, facing overwhelming challenges, or major life changes? Consider gifting them with a prayer shawl or lap blanket to

bring them comfort and let them know people are praying for them, no matter their age, faith, or problem. Our ministry members are knitters and crocheters of all skill levels and others who deliver our handiwork. All of us weave prayers into our handiwork and pray for all our recipients who live nearby, around the country, and even overseas! If you’d like to join our ministry, our gatherings are fun, inspirational, and optional. To find out more or select a piece for someone, contact Jan Smith at 610-269-1756 or [email protected]. We meet every other Monday at noon as noted in the bulletin calendar. Pease join us Monday, September 21, at 12 p.m.

    every Thursday at 8 p.m.

Caring for Friends: Cooks: Thanks for your ongoing support of the Caring for Friends ministry throughout the last few months. We have been well-supplied with meals up until early August when the incoming meals have started to diminish slightly. This may be attributed to people on vacation and/or it being too hot to cook. Hopefully things will improve as the colder weather sets in. Reminder: When meals are packaged, please put a piece of aluminum foil over the food before inserting it into the bag and put all desserts and/or breads under the

menu paper so the contents can be easily read. We are freezer #137; kindly put that on all menus even if there is no space provided. We continue to have one person who has a need for low-salt meals. If some of you can refrain from adding salt, it would be appreciated. Please put a ribbon around the meals so the visitors can easily recognize them. Visitors: Thanks for your continued dedication in taking meals to your friends during these difficult times. Please remember that any meals with the ribbons are low salt and refrain from taking them unless absolutely necessary. Any questions, please feel free to call Ellen at 610-384-7160 or email [email protected].

Known as the “Strong Right Arm of the Church,” Knights contribute volunteer service and charitable outreach to support our parish and to build community. Membership is open to all Catholic men in good standing. OUR FAITH: Through our

programs and resources we strive to help men, their families, and their parishes grow closer to Christ. OUR MISSION: We are Catholic men who lead, serve, protect, and defend. We share a desire to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors, and role models. There is much good and necessary work to be done in the world, and that's what we do every day. To learn more about becoming a Knight, contact Roy Staszak at [email protected].

    Respect Life

“As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.”

    Pope Saint John Paul II

SILVER LINING SENIORS: Have missed seeing all of our members since our last meeting way back in March!! Due to the size of our group and the age of our membership, we will not be having a meeting until the beginning of 2021. We will revisit the idea of a meeting as we continue to monitor the current pandemic and the risks involved. If any of you have any prayer requests or other matters you want to discuss, please contact Pat Currie at 610-913-0721 or [email protected]. We continue to pray for all in our parish and ask for your prayers as well!
