Mass Intentions The Parish Office will contact you soon to re-schedule

Mass Intentions that were “put on hold” during the suspension of public Masses.

Pastor’s Corner Dear Parishioners,

We are excited to welcome you back to the first celebration of Sunday Mass with a

congregation. Due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to make some changes to our schedule and to the way in which you will participate in the celebration.

Anyone who is currently exhibiting any flu-like symptoms, coughing, sneezing, or fever is not allowed to come to the celebration until those symptoms have passed. We are also encouraging all those people who are susceptible to contracting the virus to please stay home for your safety and health.

Archbishop Gomez has dispensed everyone from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice. We must be prudent and considerate in order to protect our own health as well as the health of all of our brothers and sisters.

To accommodate all those people who cannot attend Mass, we will still be streaming Sunday Mass online. Please visit our website: straphaelsb.org for information.

We are requiring that all attendees wear a face-mask, covering the mouth and nose at all times while on the parish grounds. We are also asking that when you arrive for Mass, check in at the table in the front of church and glass doors. From there you will go directly inside to be seated by an usher. After Mass, please go directly to your vehicle; please do not gather in groups before or after Mass. I know this may be difficult as we are all excited to see one another for the first time, but we must keep everyone safe.

The “social distancing requirement” of six feet of separation between individuals means that a total of 100 people (this includes the Priest, Deacon, ushers, Communion Ministers, and musicians) will be allowed to be in the church at each Mass. Therefore, we are asking you to use the form on our parish website to make a reservation. If you do not have access to the internet, you may call the Parish Office and leave a message with your name, phone number, and number of people in your household who will attend Mass. You may only register those in your own household.

We have changed the Mass schedule to be able to properly clean the church after each Mass and to ensure the safety of our parishioners. If the gates are closed when you arrive at the parish, please be patient as the ushers are disinfecting the surfaces of the pews and other areas in order to make ready for your arrival.

Please check our website straphaelsb.org or Facebook page www.facebook.com/SaintRaphaelSB for the most recent updates.

New Website Coming July 1 — St. Raphael Church will be launching a new website on July 1. It will have a whole new look, but will remain at the same internet address: straphaelsb.org.

Make Sure Your Contact Info is Up-to-Date — Our team made thousands of calls to Parishioners who are registered in our database, to check in on them. In the process, we asked for updated contact information. If you did not receive a call or have not been receiving email updates, we do not have your (current) information on file. Please visit our website and select the links from the homepage to register your household or update info. This will add you to our email list to receive updates regarding COVID-19 and the church re-opening.

If you need assistance, please call the Parish Office at (805) 967-5641 or email [email protected]. We are conducting as much parish business as possible remotely. Make sure to leave your name and phone number.

(Pastor’s Corner, continued)

9:00 am – English

Protecting Our Children

Read-aloud book stories to stretch your relationship with your children. Summer is a good time to instill or develop reading habits in your children. Books are a good source to learn about new things in life and as you read together with your children it can help to strengthen your relationship with them and learn about their emotions or concerns, especially during this time of COVID-19. “Worries, fears, and anxieties are all dragons that sneak up on most of us at one time or another,” says the introduction to the book “You’ve Got Dragons,” authored by Kathryn Cave. “It is the perfect read-aloud story for young children whose fears can sometimes get the better of them.” Among books recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA) are: “A feel better book for little worriers,” and “My wandering dreaming mind,” both in English, and “Respira con facilidad,” in Spanish.
