Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time November 16-17, 2019 From the
Desk of Monsignor Dan
Scripture - 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Reflection Jesus reminds the disciples — and us — of his con- stant
presence. “I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking.” In other
Gospel passages, Jesus promises and sends the Holy Spirit upon his
followers. The presence of God is real in our lives, no matter what
trials come our way. It’s tempting to be distracted or dismayed by
natural destruction and moral evil in the world. But the Church has
weathered greater storms. The sacredness of the human person
endures. We can have hope! This day and every day, we can persevere
in hope and trust in God. Thoughts for the Week Response to our
annual volunteer commitment weekend recently is very encouraging
and makes for some wonderful opportunities in the coming year here
at St. Stephen’s. Your time and talent are integral to the vitality
of our parish. When your generous sharing of these precious
personal gifts takes shape in our various ministries, the Holy
Spirit is made manifest as the source of God’s grace in all that we
do and all that we are as the Body of Christ here and now. Please
help our parish council members and me become even more aware with
your thoughts on how the mission of our parish can become ever more
active in meeting the needs of its members. Thank you to our
council members and Shelley Wellnitz for our recent successful
volunteer update. Next weekend, the Feast of Christ the King, marks
the end of our Church year. Booklets are available for all
parishioners with daily meditations for the upcoming season of
Advent. God bless you, Msgr. Dan Ganshert

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS RESPONSE
All the toys, books, gift certificates and donations you gave for
the Dismas Prison Ministry Pro- ject are greatly appreciated.
Next
week we will be wrapping each gift and giving them to all the
children of parents who are inmates at Rock County Jail. Imagine
the child’s joy when they receive a gift that is tagged: “Love from
Mom/Dad. “Amen, I say to you, since you did it to one of these
least ones, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25: 31-46)
Thank you to all Who Have Responded to
our Volunteer Commitment Weekend.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to respond, the
display table and all the forms are in the Gather- ing Space.
Notice that our Mission Statement on the front of the bulletin
encourages us “...to strive to live a prayer-filled life through
worship, sacraments and SERVICE.” There are many opportunities to
serve.

firmed and those adults in the RCIA program and those who are
actively seeking to become stronger in our Catholic Faith. This is
also an invitation for those who have already experienced a TEC to
come and help by working. Fr. Eric Sternberg will be the Spiritual
