Welcome to Billerica Catholic Religious Education for 2016-17!
While many aspects of the BCRE program are unchanged, this year we will limit the number of stu-dents in each class for more manageable class sizes. The number of classes offered will also be limited by the number of volunteers who come forward.
Please volunteer for your program so that we may place as many children as possible in classes. The registration form for students and the form for interested volunteers can be found at reled.billericacatholic.org.
Religious Education Office Hours
The BCRE Office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am to 4 pm. Please stop by to register or just say hello.
Our Grade 1-2 children are in need of teachers of our faith. If you have considered teaching about Jesus to elementary children, now is the time to say, “Yes!” You will join the ranks of those who live out
their faith in the teaching of others with our support. Please contact Robin Clayton at the BCRE Office (978-667-3733 x44) if you are interested. We need teachers and aides for these sessions:
Mondays at 6 (teacher & aide) pm - St. Theresa Tuesdays at 4 pm - (teacher & aides) St. Theresa Wednesdays at 4 pm - (aide) St. Andrew
In our Middle and High School program, Presenters present content and curriculum for the session,
while adult and teen Small Group Leaders lead discussion and activities with their group of students
(10 or less). This is a great role for a teen, parent, or adult who wants to be a positive influence on our students, but who does not want to prepare or present a session.
We need additional volunteers for:
• Middle School at St. Mary - Sunday 10:20-11:50 am
• Confirmation at St. Mary - Sunday 1:00-2:30 pm
• Confirmation at St. Theresa - Sunday 3:20-4:50 pm & 6:00-7:30 pm
• Middle School at St. Theresa - Monday 4:00-5:30 pm & 6:00-7:30 pm
• Middle School at St. Theresa - Tuesday 4:00-5:30 pm & 6:00-7:30 pm
Please pray about how you might be able to assist in the formation of the youth of our communi-ty. Your commitment to journeying with our young people will enable more students to participate in our program! For more information, please contact the Billerica Catholic Religious Education Office at 978-667-3733.
VIRTUS Training
There will be a VIRTUS ~ Protecting God’s Children training on Monday, Sep-tember 26 from 6:30-9 pm in Room 7 at St. Theresa. For more information or to sign up please visit reled.billericacatholic.org/virtus. Thank you!
Continuing Education for Your Marriage
Many jobs require you to keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date. What about your mar-
riage? There is always more to learn and improve in your marriage vocation, whether you are newly
engaged or have been married for decades. Join us for a Date Night and spend an evening focus-
ing on this important relationship!
Date Nights will resume Saturday, October 1 from 6:30 – 8 pm in St. Theresa Hall. This month we will watch a
video and have some discussion time. Childcare is available, and
babies are welcome to stay with parents.
Light refreshments will be provided. You are wel-come to bring a snack to share. Contact Jennifer at [email protected] or 978-294-9431
for information. RSVPs are appreciated but not necessary. Come make your marriage great!
Altar Server of the Month Award
The Knights of Columbus would like to recognize
Natalia Yailaian as “Altar Server of the Month.”
Thank you, Natalie, for all your service in the Catholic Community of Billerica and St. Mary Parish.
October Food Drive
In October the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Drive will be on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd after all the Masses.
We are in need of: canned items (fruit, soup,
canned meat, etc.); boxed items (cereals, pasta,
rice, etc.); school snacks (applesauce, pudding,
crackers, etc.); additional items (peanut butter,
condiments, paper products, shampoo, soap, etc.).
We accept any non-perishable items. Food is dis-tributed to families in Billerica who are in need of a little extra help. We thank you for your contin-ued support!
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” ~ Helen Keller
Cantor Needed
St. Theresa’s Contemporary Music Group is seeking one or more so-
prano or tenor cantor to lead song at the Sunday 5pm Mass. Strong singing skills,
ability to work in an ensemble, and upbeat atti-tude necessary, audition required. Other singers/
musicians also welcome; we especially need per-cussion. Please contact Terry O’Donnell, [email protected] / 978-663-3805.
Please Help the Missionaries of Charity
The Catholic Community of Billerica is helping St. Teresa of Calcutta’s Missionaries of Charity in
their service to the elderly in the US. St. Mary Parish has supported their ministry for many years. This year, we have expanded the program throughout the Catholic Community of Billerica. Please bring your gifts to the Hall after Mass by September 25.
Thank you all for your generous do-
nations as we honor Mother Teresa
on the month of her canonization!
It’s CORI Form Time Again
Once again this fall we ask all volunteers to com-plete a CORI form. To facilitate the CORI re-form law signed by the Governor, the Depart-ment of Criminal Information Services has updat-ed the CORI access system.
If you have not completed a CORI since July 1, you will need to come to the parish office to do so.
St. Paul’s Soup Kitchen
We will be making mac and cheese with fun toppings, sides and dessert for the next few meals. If you would like to help out with any part of the meal for October 21, please reach out to Sierra ([email protected] or 978-663-8816) for recipes and our specific needs. We would love to have you get involved.
If you can’t donate time or resources this month, please contribute by praying for the ministry, and especially for those we serve. Thank you!

What the Hell! A Fall Bible Study People sometimes ask innocently whether the Catholic Church still believes in Hell. But of course! Not only is it still “on the books,” it is Jesus’ own constant preaching on the subject that makes His people take notice of what is, in reality, a great gift from God. Please join us for a biblical look into one of the most precious, if misunderstood, of Christ’s gifts to His Church.
