RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (often

abbreviated RCIA) is the process through which interested adults

and older children are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic

faith and way of life. The RCIA is a communal process and

involves a number of stages punctuated by liturgical rites to aid

and assist the potential convert toward the final rite, usually at the

Easter Vigil at which time they will become full members of the

Catholic Church. If you or someone you know is interested in

receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and/or

Eucharist, or if you have been away from the faith for a while and

would like to come back and learn more about it, please call Fr.

Matt at the rectory (739-4779) or speak with him after Mass.

PARISHIONERS, ST. THOMAS SCHOOL ALUMNI, AND

FRIENDS—PLEASE NOTE January is the renewal month for

the 500 Club. You should have received the information in the

mail. The last drawing for 2014 is January 25 and the first

drawing for 2015 is February 22. The profits realized, shared

equally by the school and parish, will be used to help pay for both

the heating costs and the cost of electricity for the school and the

parish.

PRAYERS FOR DECEASED—Marilyn Vallee and Robert

Stevenson. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful

departed rest in peace.

ANNUAL DIOCESAN APPEAL FOR THE COLLEGE OF

OUR LADY OF THE ELMS—A collection is being taken up

today for the College of Our Lady of the Elms—the Catholic college in the Springfield Diocese. The Sisters of St. Joseph

founded Elms College in 1928 to educate immigrant children in

the faith that was their heritage, and prepare them to fulfill the

promises of the American Dream. We continue to fulfill that

mission through scholarships and grants to students from

throughout the Springfield Diocese. For information about scholarships, or to apply, please visit the Elms College website,

www.elms.edu, or call 413-594-6123.

Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs.

Robert A. Wise. Robert and Julie A. Raimondo were

married Sunday, December 21, 2014.

ST. ANN SOCIETY wishes to thank all the St. Thomas

parishioners who purchased the 2015 Taste of the Valley coupon

books from us. We truly appreciate your support! We will

continue to have books available. Just call Nancy (737-8641) or

Donna (732-6520) and we will get them to you.

Dear Parishioners and Friends, Recently you received a letter regarding the St. Thomas the Apostle School Annual Fund. As a school and parish community here at St. Thomas the Apostle, we feel we are blessed to be surrounded by very dedicated, caring, and passionate individuals. We have worked as a community to ensure the current stability as well as the long term viability of St. Thomas the Apostle School. A major component of our long-term success is the St. Thomas the Apostle Annual Fund. The St. Thomas the Apostle Annual Fund was created to help bridge the gap between the revenues of the school and the costs associated with its operation. We are fortunate to have a strong parish here at St. Thomas that provides support of our school. We are thankful to the parishioners, who through a portion of their giving, support Catholic education. After a successful

inaugural year, our goal for this year’s Annual Fund is

$65,000!!! If you have not made your commitment, we ask that you prayerfully consider joining with so many others in our school and church community to ensure we are able to provide the blessing of Catholic education for generations to come. If you have already made a contribution, I extend a heartfelt thank you. May God continue to bless you and your family.

Fr. Ken

Beverly Rochford, SSJ, will be escorting a Canada and New England Cruise July 10-18, 2015. We will host an information session at the West Springfield Senior Center on Tuesday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. Please call to register: 413-495-4876.
