FBA 2016 Summer Camp Calendar

Dear Parents: Summer is almost here! It is going to be an amazing summer here at Saints Summer Camp at First Baptist Academy. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your child’s summer experience. What an honor for us to get to serve your kids this summer and get to know you and your family. This summer we are focusing on CHARACTER COUNTS, with our key verse being Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there

is no law.”

This year, we are offering a variety of camps that will keep your child engaged all summer long! We have something for everyone! Art, cooking, silly science, sports, and so much more! We know every student will experience something exciting to do each week! Here at FBA we are focused on creating a safe and welcoming environment where the kids can be themselves, explore their interests, and experience ultimate summer fun!

Below you will see some highlights of what our summer includes:

Program starts May 31, 2016, and continues through July 29, 2016 (Closed Memorial Day and 4 th of July)

We offer programming that runs from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm in order to encompass the entire work day.

Registration will be accepted via email, mail, or drop off at First Baptist Academy Saints Camp office located at 1606 Patterson Street, 1st floor, Dallas, Texas 75201

Week 1: Where the Wild Things Are May 30 - June 3 (Closed Memorial Day)

A wonderful world unfolds in this five-day investigation of the animal kingdom. Each day

study a different type of animal including mammals, birds, or reptiles, and learn about the

places they inhabit. Animals come in all shapes and sizes. This camp will utilize a variety of

mediums as you design artwork inspired by animal shapes and express your creative side.

Week 2: Green Thumb June 6 - 10

Put on your gardening gloves and roll up your sleeves as we unlock the mysteries of plants

and how to grow them in this agricultural adventure. From home gardening to Venus Fly

Traps to composting, you will be amazed at the FUN!

Week 3: Wild, Wild, West June 13 - 17

Travel back to the days when west was wild and adventures hid around every corner!

Experience life as a Texas Ranger and get ready for a historical and imaginative ride.

Week 4: Are you ready to Rock? June 20 - 24

Learn how to rock as you make your own instruments! We can make a band, or you can have

a solo career! Enjoy the week learning and creating different types of music!

Week 5: Legos! June 27 - July 1

This week we will focus on discovering many treasures of LEGOS. Get ready to discover and

create, various models to design wonderful creations.

Week 6: Under the Sea! July 5 - 8 (Closed July 4)

This science camp adventure offers an exciting hands on exploration of some of the most

amazing creatures of the sea. Discover the amazing ocean sponge as well as learn ways to

care for the ocean and its inhabitants. The campers will leave this camp in awe of the Creator

of the sea.

Week 7: Indiana Bones! July 11 - 15

Experience the joy of discovery as you learn about archeology and hunt for fossils and lost

treasure hidden in the earth long ago. Part history and part explorations, this camp is sure to

thrill!

Week 8: Calling all Superheroes! July 18 - 22

History Lessons on all the super heroes the children love to watch. Come dressed in your

favorite superhero clothes, and leave behind your secret identity for a week of heroic fun. You

will need to bring your courage for this epic week of camp!

Week 9: Beat the Heat, Surfs Up! July 25 - 29

Cool down this summer with a week of aquatic themed FUN and adventures! Experience fun

outdoor water games, and end the week with a trip to the Waterpark!

Summer Camp Class Descriptions

Cheer Camp Cheerleading camp will give the girls a chance to learn cheerleading in a fun, Christ-centered

atmosphere. They will learn to work together to accomplish their goals. Camp activities

include cheers, games, stunts, motions, jumps, and dance. The FBA Varsity cheerleaders will

teach in the gym at the Saints Athletic Complex (SAC) - transportation will be provided to and

from the SAC. Mark your calendar for a performance on Friday at the SAC at noon.

Football Camp Students will learn fundamentals of football. The FBA coaching staff will take them through a

daily workout and perfect their catching, running, blocking, and passing skills all in a non

contact environment.

“Frozen” Music Camp We will learn and prepare 4-5 song selections from Disney’s Frozen. We will also have fun arts,

crafts, and snacks that relate to the movie. Friday, at the conclusion of music camp, we will

have a mini production to show parents, grandparents, family, and friends everything we have

learned! Boys and Girls alike will have a great time not only learning some songs, but also how

to be great musicians. “Let’s go bring back summer!”

Le Petit Chef Children will enjoy a week of creating delicious foods - both sweet and savory. Campers will

have a hands-on experience as they prep and prepare all of the dishes. Each day will end with

a buffet of what they prepared that day. At the end of the week, they will walk away with a

cookbook filled with all the recipes they prepared. They will be proud of what they accom-

plished and eager to prepare a meal for their family.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register? You can register for Saints Summer Camp by visiting our website fbacademy.com/SaintsLife/SaintsSummerCamp. You can mail the completed registration forms to First Baptist Academy, Saints Summer Camp, PO Box 868, Dallas, TX 75221, or email them to [email protected]

What forms of payment are accepted? We accept cash, check, and debit/credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover).

When registering for camps what grades do I select? Grades listed indicate the grade the student recently completed in the Spring of 2016. Students must be at least three years old by June 1, 2016. All children must be toilet trained to attend Saints Summer Camp.

How do you handle refunds? Requests must be emailed to Alyssa Sivess at [email protected] two weeks prior to the camp start date in order to receive a full refund minus a $50 processing fee. Requests received one week before the start of camp will be 50% refunded. Any requests received inside of one week, will not be issued a refund except in cases of emergency.

Where do I drop off and pick up? Parents should pick up and drop off in front of First Baptist Academy located at the intersection of Patterson/Akard. A staff member will meet you at the car for drop-off and pick-up. If you wish to come in and drop-off your camper, we ask that you do not enter the second set of glass doors.

How does lunch work? A designated lunch time will be built into “all day” classes. For students going from a morning to an afternoon program, lunch will be from 12:00-12:30PM. Please pack a lunch each day. Lunches will not be refrigerated. Lunch is supervised by counselors and instructors.

What should my child bring each day? Campers will have the opportunity to have a snack each day. Please pack snacks if desired. Snacks may also be purchased from the Saints Camp Office. Prepaid accounts may be set up to avoid sending cash with your child. We suggest your child wear closed-toe shoes and dress in comfortable, summer attire. Pre-K and Kindergarten Students should have a change of clothes including underwear and socks at all times. We will also have a designated rest time, so please provide a nap mat. Instructors will contact you if your camp requires special attire at any point during the summer.

Do you offer extended care? Yes! We offer an All-Day Camp that runs from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm.

How do you handle discipline? Saints Summer Camp reserves the right to request the withdrawal of any student whose conduct is unsatisfactory or who fails to conform to the rules and regulations. No refunds will be made to any student who withdraws or is dismissed for summer session after the program has begun.

Does my child have to attend FBA to participate in summer camp and classes? Saints Summer Camp welcomes students from any school.
